Wow...I had no idea Griffith was on Fulmer's payroll

What point are you even trying to prove? I'm not sure if you know anymore. Nobody is arguing the fact that PSU is better now.
Is it because of JoPa?....no
He has little to no influence over the day to day activities of the football program.

There are a couple big problems with carrying that over to our situation. First, Fulmer is no JoPa. He never has been, and he never will be. Second, Fulmer has shown repeatedly that he is too much of a control freak to completely hand over the reigns to his assitants. Therefore, myself and most other people without their head in the sand realize that this kind of turnaround isn't going to happen at UT.

P.S. Don't pull out the "I'm older so I know more" argument. Just because someone is old doesn't mean that it's impossible for them to be naive about a subject. That carries about as much water as if I tried to argue that I am smarter than you because my post count is higher.

Thank you

I thought at this time last year, many said "give him one more year to turn it around."

Well, here we are. Are we turned around? No. We had a nice little run at the end of last season, but we clearly didn't change our general direction.

Ding ding...

Here is the winner.

That nice little run was also helped by the luckiest of bounces and some timely special teams plays that went our way.

True our special teams have not been that special this year. I dont think they could bail us out.

Our great special teams play had nothing to do with the fg Vandy missed at the end of the game last year, though.

I will say our return game was great last year, for the most part.

And let me help you remember Jo Pa's record from 2000-2004(5 yrs.):
2000- 5W 7L
2001- 5W 6L
2002- 9W 4L
2003- 3W 9L
2004- 4W 7L

And let me help you remember the last 4 yrs:
2005- 11W 1L
2006- 9W 4L
2007- 9W 4L
2008- 7W 0L (current rank #3)

Penn St has benefited greatly by the weakening of the Big 10. The opposite can be said for Tennessee and the rise in power of the SEC.

Fulmer was competitive in a day when he could "out talent" the competition. Without a talent advantage, his deficiencies as a leader and strategist are exposed.

How can you possibly take an objective look at fulmer's history and argue that we will compete for championships in the SEC. Since then SEC became more than a 2 team race (2002 on with the resurgence of Georgia, LSU, Auburn and now Alabama), fulmer is only winning a third of the games against equal or better competition. Moreover, he is only .500 against the ENTIRE SEC over the past 3+ seasons. Finally, we are 2-4 this year, even with 2 top 3 rated recruiting classes comprising the majority of our 2 deep.

Any objective analysis by an independent observer would lead to the same conclusion. The chances of fulmer winning another championship at tennessee are not very good. There is no evidence to support that fulmer can be successful over time against the likes of Meyer, Saban, Tubberville and Richt, and any other top coaches. The facts absolutely do not support it.

The longer we wait to replace fulmer, the longer the dry spell between SEC titles, because I don't see the SEC weakening any time soon.

Mike Griffith is totally wrong in his article. Fulmer does not deserve another chance. The fact is that we have been going downhill for mnay years. Fulmer has not been good since the 90s.

We are 7-20 against Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn since 2000. How does Fulmer deserve another chance? He hasn't won the SEC since the 90s because he can not beat those four schools. He is a terrible coach and needs to be fired or retired.

Griffith isn't on Fulmer's payroll. He is on Chavis'. The two are big buddies. They actually talk on a regular basis.

Hence, Griffith claiming the other day that Trooper set the program back and that they needed years to get over the damage he had done.

Well Chavis hated Trooper and fed Griffith the tales. So his old buddy serves as his mouthpiece.

Griffith is terrible. I'm pretty sure he would date any member of the UT men's basketball team if given the opportunity. Only reason he is safe is because he is a high up with the football writer's association. Just so happens he doesn't even cover football.

Men's or Women's?

I had quite a thing for Michelle Marciniac (sp?) in my younger years.

Griffith was trying to pin the Vols loss to UGA on the refs. Just proves his small time/town mentality.

It certainly did impact the last drive of the 1st half, who knows how things might have played differently if they had 1 td less in the 4th quarter.

You know, you can always play the what if game. The fact of the matter is you can watch almost any game and find missed or bad calls. And yes they can affect the game. But playing the what if game is for losers.

There are more out there that believe as Griffith does than is being currently being heard, or who are even attempting to speak. Those fans are just waiting till the temper tantrums subside. PSU fans were thowing these sort of fits a very short time ago about Joe Pa. Currently Coach Paterno, as well as those who were calling for his head, are now reaping the benefits of a cool headed PSU administration. Those who were calling for his head look pretty silly just now...huh? :) GO VOLS beat MSU !

years of pa. state mediocrity--or worse (four losing seasons, I believe) in the last 10 or 15 years? Your point seems to be: Let's just wait for another 5 or 10 years, and Fulmer will have another good season! That's pretty silly reasoning, if you ask me. The fact is, the football program has been in a downward slide for nearly 10 years--lousy football, a bad record against most of the better teams, starting with florida, our chief rival that kicks our ass every year. Have you missed that, too? Why should we keep a coach that gets his butt kicked in the year's most important game almost EVERY Year.

Because he's a good guy, as Griff suggests? Fulmer is LONG past his prime--it's patently clear--but seem to thing we should just keep giving our slow-witted coach 2.5 million a year because he did good things more than a decade ago. Let's focus on the present.

Fulmer isn't wearing depends yet and his assistants surely aren't calling the shots so your statement is pretty weak.
