The only coach I would say yes to would be smart. Other than that I would pick coach huep. I have faith huep is gonna get that ugly Georgia monkey off his back this year.Obviously this is just one of those offseason, can we please talk about football topics. I saw it asked on Redditt and thought it might stir some conversation here while waiting for the season to start. Just for clarity I really love our coach and am glad he is here. I actually think this topic made me appreciate him more after looking at what is out there.
For me:
Smart: yeah, probably. I hate to admit it but the dude is on top of the game right now.
DeBoer: Nah. I don't think he would be a step back and proved at Washington he can win but I like Heup better right now
Napier: Hell no.
Other coaches I would trade Heup for? That is tough. Day has the current NC but is he great or is Ohio State talent great? I am not so sure. Sark has been good at Texas but has a history. Guys like Kelly and Franklin are past their prime. I think the only two guys in addition to Smart would be Dabo and maybe Dan Lanning. I am not saying Heup is the 4th best coach in the country right now but he is already established here and I would really need a proven winner to go through the pain of another coaching change.
Heupel and Kirby both beat Saban once.I keep seeing all this gushing praise for Kirby. He’s not that great of a coach (hear me out)
- he inherited not a dumpster fire from the previous admin
- he recruits in one of the plethora states in CFP (maybe only Florida has more talent)
- GA for the past many years has had a ridiculously soft schedule
Kirby is taking advantage of the situation he inherited. Good for him. His teams are full of drug addicts and reckless drivers. He could never beat Saban, something Heupel did twice.
So, no I would not trade CJH for any of those other clowns.
UGA has had a lot of coaches over the years (and by that, I mean every other coach they've ever had) who haven't done what Kirby has been able to do.I keep seeing all this gushing praise for Kirby. He’s not that great of a coach (hear me out)

How many times has Heupel beaten Smart? It only took Smart two years to make a national championship game. But it only took Heupel two years to beat him.
I’m sorry, 2022 and 2024…Heupel beat Saban more than Kirby ever did and with fewer attempts. Where do you get your stats from?I don’t know what your point is. He didn’t beat him twice, neither did Heupel.
Are you under the impression that Saban was the coach at Alabama last year? Also, Tennessee lost to Alabama in 2021.I’m sorry, 2021, and 2024…Heupel beat Saban more than Kirby ever did and with fewer attempts. Where do you get your stats from?
My point is, I would not trade CJH for Kirby. Kirby is not as good as everyone thinks. He’s a lucky man taking advantage of the cards dealt him.
Hahahahahahaha, your Right!!!!! IM THE IDIOT!!!Are you under the impression that Saban was the coach at Alabama last year?
The argument i have to this is that Kirby is the one recruiting the five stars. Recruiting is a part of coaching, too. I love heupel though and I would have a hard time trading heupel even for Kirby smart and Dan lanningNO! I would not trade for anyone, including Smart. I still remember how great he wasn't before he got a stable full of 5*. I would love to see what CJH could do with the number of 5* players Kirby has.
