Clearly I'm in the minority but I think we could do worse than Morris.

Losing record at SMU, yes, but he was left with nothing. A completely bare cupboard. I understand that's an excuse and a losing record is a losing record, but he had a big role in Clemson's surge to the top of the CFB world also.

That's just me though. I can see and understand the people who compare his profile to Dooley's. Don't agree, but I get it.

Yes, if he were still the OC at Clemson people would be all for him like they are Venebles. Instead because he took over the worst program in the nation and did his own rebuilding project people just look at his record and say no. So many here don't apply context to the situation of where they are. I dread Arkansas hiring him if they do.

If you saw a starving person..would you support feeding them a sh*t sandwhich?

No. At his point, we either need a proven winner or an up and comer. If I was a potential recruit, I would much rather come play for one of these instead of someone who has, so far, been a failure.

Venebles has coached a NC at 2000 Oklahoma and a NC at 2016 Clemson. Not the same at all!

The Clemson offense got much better too, after he left.

No 1- No it didn't get much better.

2- It got slightly better which I'm sure had nothing to do with Deshawn Watson at all.

3-The still run the same offense that Morris installed and I have a friend who is a CU booster who is very open about the fact that Morris/ Venables probably saved Dabos job.

...at SMU. SMU. Ill say it again...SMU. Oh wait they will win 8 games this year. at SMU.

Oh and he also is the architect of the offense Clemson runs.

Yeah real failure. SMH.

I would feel like I did when Dooley/Butch were hired. Oh, great, another coach from a mid-major school with a horrible record. The same exact thing over again. I'm sure that would go over real well with recruits, as well. They'd run for the hills.

You’re skipping a HUGE PART of his resume. :)

Agreed. Just go to an SMU site and read. They’re really hyped about next year if he stays.

You're arguing with the faction of our fan base that gets us made fun of.

So is he your first choice? Do you think he would win here?

Hate to say it, and thought I never would. But I really don't who they get anymore. This whole situation has left such a sour opinion of all involved that I can't see any coach better than mildly decent to come here. It might be a place for old HCs looking for a final paycheck before they retire, but not for one looking to build a championship program. Or as I said before, unproven guys stepping on stones between Carson Newman or Tusculum to the group of five. Yes I meant group, not power.

Morris has done more at SMU than anyone else has since they got the death penalty. I haven't really looked at him closely, because I figured there would be a serious search going on, and I really hadn't pulled up any info yet.

The only real option is to let Fulmer be HC and AD. That way, if he is all that and a bag of chips, he can shut people like me up. But WHEN he fell on his face, the sound of overwhelming laughing to the point of tears will be coming from plenty of us when all you wanting a statue of him as tall as the jumbotron turn on him.

Yeah after the error filled link you posted about college coaches buyouts,we've all got a pretty good feel for your level of knowledge about college football.

You mean the one that was originally posted by CBS Sports? I only post links from credible sources. CBS Sports is a credible source. Your argument is invalid.

At least you tried :eek:k:

Not been a HC long enough. If were going to roll the dice with him might as well roll the dice with TEE as HC.

So the architect of Clemsons offense who has three years head coaching experience PLUS HS head coaching is the same as Tee, who we're not even sure what role he actually plays in USC offense? Wow...

And it only took half the board 3 Google clicks to start Tallying all the errors in the link you posted. But hey, I guess at least you tried.

Yes.
Guy is an offense genius. Architect of Clemson’s O. Big time Texas and California connections that will play a recruiting role and he is a smart, good guy. He would be a winner at UT.

How does wanting a winner get us made fun of? I'm guessing you were a Butch supporter from the beginning?

Not at all, but at least I was willing to keep an open mind until proven otherwise. Morris is a quality coach. If Jimbo had stayed at FSU, Morris would have been announced as the A&M coach two days ago. And they're certainly not desperate to make a hire.

No.

But it would be a soft "well I thought we could do better. I'll deal with it" kind of No.

Not an "oh god, this is as terrible as Doeren" kind of No.
