Definitely.

He produces monster defenses which is needed in the SEC.

Not sure what it counts for, but being the DC for potentially the back-to-back Natty winners is something at least. also won the Broyles award last year.

If they had to hire a coordinator as HC, then let it be Venables rather than someone like Tee.

I could really get on board with it.

I’d be on board with Venables, but around here the Broyles Award is a joke since an “average coach” like Tee made the final cut this year.

Where's the "HELL YES!" option!?

Venables is one of the few top-tier guys still available and I think he'd be a great hire. He's also one of the few coaches who might be able to lure in Tee as OC, since it would likely mean an increase in responsibility (Tee would be solely in charge of offense since Venables is a defense guy) and salary. A Venables + Tee combo would be spectacular.

I would take BV.

I doubt Tee comes here under a guy who was also a coordinator though. He runs the offense at USC already.

yeah that's fair.

Venables seems like the kind of hire that has a very high ceiling. If he's a hit, we'd be back in business in a big way.

I want to know what "support" means? To the university it means refraining from protests that turn into negative publicity and subsequently making significant financial donations and buying season ticket packages. Alternatively it can mean typing the thumbs-up emoticon on a message board, which is at best marginally supportive, and let's be honest, essentially meaningless in the scheme of things. The only coach out there that I would "support" (first definition) is Petersen, but that is not a possibility.

The offense is still under the direct control of Helton there. Venerables might give him more autonomy and he's a legend here.

My first choice when this chit show started! We need a great defense and BR could make that happen. ALOT of experience, just look at some of the games and offenses he has beaten in his career...

Get off the Tee train. Venable is my #1 choice. But allow him to pick his own staff since we are holding him accountable.

Yes. Defense wins championships, or so they say. That guy can coach defense.
