Would you like to see a dual threat QB @ UT?

Would you like for Tennessee to recruit a dual-threat type QB next time around, or are you happy with the pro-style pocket passers that we have traditionally seen? I enjoy watching what we have now, but I also wouldn't mind a fresh look with a dangerous runner at QB in a few years.

Dual threats aren't always though (a lot that aren't actually)

Peterman is as dual as you get. Doesn't run a 4.3 but has nice wheels and is an excellent passer. Not all QB's who can run a 4.4 are good passers. Jut because they have the ability to release a ball out o their hands doesn't make them a dual threat.

Who was the last successful dual threat QB we had and what was the result at the end of the season?

I like both styles of QB. But, IMO, I think dual threats are better in college. They don't last long in the next level though. But, as long as the offensive scheme is adjusted to their strengths, either type will be successful.

We had Brent Schaeffer and that ended with a bust. I thought he was going to be huge while he was here.

Very true, but that was not the QB I was thinking about.

I have been wanting a qb for many years that can pick up yards with his feet when things break down or if he makes a good read. Many years. It makes playing D a Hell of a lot harder to play if the qb can make a play with his feet

A dual threat is more likely to be injured because of exposure. The exception may be Tebow, but he is strong enough to take some pounding. I believe a drop back QB is better if they can get the ball in the play maker's hands.

Dual threat would be a nice change. I can't help to think that the thought that at any time, T Martin would able to roll out and sprint around the corner to hit another 3-4 yds or the end zone. Its just the college football age we now live in. You almost have to have wheels under the QB in order to keep D's on their toes.

I am not a fan of running QB's.. Just do not like that style of play.. I like smash mouth runs followed by a play-action rocket down the sidelines to JH for a TD.. JMO

That is not exactly right. Dooley and Chaney are more set on finding good QB's then they are a pro-style offense. We have had interest in both pro-style and dual thread QB's, but have not had any dual threat QB's return our interest yet (though Peterman does have some wheels). It looks like we could very well end up with a dual threat QB this year, as most of our current offers at QB are Dual threat such as Chavas Rawlins.
