Read this morning that Peyton is contimplating retirement due to his injury...

Would he make a good HC at UT?

No experience as offical coach, but one of the smartest football minds out there....

He said he doesn't want to coach. He doesn't think he could be patient enough, especially with kids who don't put in the work he did. I think sooner or later he may give it a try, but not right now.

If we were in fantasyland, yes I would.

Peyton could secure a #1 recruiting class by March or April every year.

Everyone talks about how he absolutely won't do and you are probably right. But the OP is asking IF he asked for the job would we give it...I'm sure we would. He'd be a beast at recruiting and he definitely holds the discipline, maturity, and knowledge to be a collegiate coach. He is a VFL and would definitely energize the Vol Nation and get national exposure out Tennessee never gets (but doesn't deserve right now).

But, to everyone else's posts they are right; it is highly highly highly unlikely he comes.

I think he loves the game to much to walk away completely, and as Urban just proved, the booth isn't the same.

Just wanted to see what people thought

Maybe Peyton could put in a call to Tony Dungy and get him to take the job, lol

Why would he want to risk tainting his legacy at U.T.?

He would be inheriting a mess, coaching for the first time ever, and not playing for the first time in 30+ years. Why is that people think he could just waltz in here and be successfull? It makes no sense. Why are people so insistent on getting coaches that were players here?

One more thing since I am already complaining: Does ANYBODY run a search to see if there is already a thread on said topic? Goodness people, how many Peyton Manning threads do we need???????

Please stop with these, he has said he does not want to coach college because he does not want to recruit. Stop with these threads, he will not be a coach at UT on any level.

So says every school that has a star player in the NFL. Imagine if Jerry Rice went back to Mississippi Valley State, that'd get the best WRs every year or Favre at Southern Miss with QBs. Peyton is a great mind and one of the best at his position, ever, but he wouldn't be securing the #1 class every year no matter what school he was at.

Not sure if you are agreeing or making fun of? Are you a lawyer?

I would love to see him as the OC/QB coach, we would have every 5 star QB in the country wanting to come here. But sadly enough, the chances of him coaching are slim, he has a broadcasting career ahead of him. One can dream tho, so Peyton Manning = OC at UTK, (Head Coach in waiting)- waiting on Gruden to retire. :)
