We have all talked about actually having one, so would you take him?? He's done really well with the RB's down in Oxford.

Probaby wouldn't hurt any. It's a lot to do with this scheme also. They want to run the ball, line up and run the ball. Magic73 explained what is happening pretty well in the "oline is a mess" thread. I'd say it's more to do with that than the fact we don't have a runningbacks coach.

Who do you let go , to make room?

If CDD wants to get his rear off the warm seat, he might think about taking a pay cut to make room..

The bottom line is that he needs to do whatever is necessary to ensure that our running game improves. If there is not a marked improvement next year for the ground game, I don't see you how you could NOT make a coaching change.

Not sure if it means Chaney or Hiestand, but somebody's arse had better be on the chopping block.

I will say that I don't think CJC and CHH are bad coaches. But the bottom line is that if you're not producing, you have to make a change.

fyp. I love watching Tyler Bray throw the ball all over the yard, but it won't win them enough games to satisfy all the armchair coaches here. They got run the ball better period, whatever it takes.

it has nothing to do with money

This is correct the reason we have to let someone go is because we can only have 9...Sirmon, Chaney, Wilcox, Joseph, Thompson, Baggett, Heistand, Russell, Hinshaw

So if you want Graham we'd have to cut one out

Hard to say we need a RB coach more than any of these other position coaches, but we do need a RB coach. Chaney is OC/RB coach, right? So what would be worse, Chaney as OC/QB coach (what seems to be his specialty anyway) and we add a RB coach and have no Hinshaw (this sounds ridiculous to me) or stay the way it is now?

I agree with Dooley that we should be allowed more coaches.

Who does Wilcox work with the most? If his specialty is DB's, then I could see us letting Terry Joseph go. But he's a great recruiter, so the RB coach we bring in would have to be equally great to justify that move.

You mean you were giving a long winded opinion w/o knowing what you were talking about? Very rare on VN.

Seriously, cuz? And smarta$$ responses are even more rare on VN, aren't they, mr. clever?

The only statement I made that wasn't accurate was about CDD giving up salary to bring in a fulltime RB coach. But that wasn't the main point of my post. The primary thing I was saying is that if the running game doesn't improve next season, SOMETHING needs to change in terms of the coaching structure/personnel - or else CDD's seat will inevitably get hotter.

If you look at my post history, I think you'll see that I try to be as objective as possible. I don't bash CDD or the coaches, but I try to call things like I see them. I'm not a complete homer koolaid drinker either..

Please don't lump me in with some of the other jacklegs on VN that are known for their inflammatory, condescending, knee-jerk-reaction posting.

It would be nice to have Jay Graham back in Knoxville. Although I don't think we should hire a coach just because he played here (Chuck Smith), I think having a few coaches with UT ties is a good thing.

Just curious, but who are some other former UT players in the coaching ranks? I know Marion Hobby is at Clemson, but I can't think of any others.

Tee Martin is at UK. :cray:
