While our then coach couldn't figure out how to cover his mouth during covid, we'd be in a McDonald's bag money scandal, and Bama and UGA would win 3 titles during the next 4 years, would you have ever believed that in 2024 we would beat bama, Florida, and uga in the same year, win the SEC Championship against Texas (against a Manning after Ewers is destroyed by our D), and be headed to a first round bye in the playoffs?

Get ready for it to happen folks! I'm not aure how well we stack up to Oregon or Ohio, but I like our chances against everyone else we could face as potential opponents from now til the final four of the playoffs. This is an amazing year!!!

Believe!

Some perspective:

In the 11 seasons prior to the arrival of CJH, Vols beat Fl, Ga and Al a total of 3 times in 33 games. (Surprisingly, Butch was 3-12 in those games; the other two doofuses were winless).

With a win Saturday, CJH will be 5-4 against those teams in the last three seasons.

Bottom line…he’s brought this program a long, long way.

I’m just sitting back, enjoying the ride and watching the phoenix rise from the ashes.

Butch Jones won 3 games amongst those 3 teams; UGA 2015 and 2016 and UF 2016.

Butch Jones could have been a good coach if he had learned to delegate rather than dictate. He did create excitement when hired. From what I have heard is he wouldn’t let his assistant coaches coach. Apparently, he hasn’t changed.

He would never be a truly “good coach” because he’s all about himself. That’s not a trait of good leadership.

You are correct. I must’ve looked at one season twice.

So, previous 11 seasons before CJH…3-30.

Last three seasons with CJH…4-4 with Ga game pending.

Let’s be grateful that we are finally watching a good football team playing very meaningful, big time games in November. And I really like our chances tomorrow.

Maybe it was the state of the program at the time. Maybe it was the state of the country. But honestly, I don’t remember a single thing from the 2020 Vols season. Nothing about it. Don’t recall watching a single game. Couldn’t tell you who was on the team. All I remember is that it was shortened and that Alabama won the natty.

Maybe best that that’s the season I forget.

I remember being very hyped for the season.

I thought maybe we’d finally turn the corner and get a signature win then the 2nd half of the Georgia game in Athens happened. That’s when I knew Pruitt needed to go after we looked like the same damn team that he inherited years earlier. No progress and no hope from that point and I checked out the rest of the season.

Months later, I was blessed with a new baby boy and Pruitt was fired the same day. Best thing that ever happened to me!

I want to see this happen badly. I am realistic to know that beating UGA @ Sanford in a night game is going to be really difficult, but if we pull it off then Heupel has officially brought us back not just to prominence but also dominance. Unbelievable turnaround. Beating UF, Bama, and UGA in a single year would be the best season we have seen in decades.

I was ready to write Heupel off earlier this year if he couldn't beat a down Florida team after losing to Arky. So glad he got us through that mess and bounced the team back.

Same here. Just total discombulation. My dad got sick, wife began the process of leaving me,….i didn’t watch a minute of that season. Honestly never thought I’d ever be interested in it again. Happy some success, and subsequent interest, had finally returned.

Well if that does happen would really make some people eat crow, every prediction I saw had us losing to Oklahoma, Bama and Ga this year and instead we beat all 3.

it's to the point where we don't have to play a perfect game to win sec games. before heupel we had to play damn near perfect mistake free games to win a game in the sec. we finally have the coaching and players where that isn't a must each week.

I remember when Heupel was hired. Most on here, I v do judging myself, thought White went cheap and got us a google coach. I didn’t know who Heupel was. And then looking at the UCF boards and them saying they were glad he left, had me pretty dejected. I thought here is yet another 4-5 year rebuild. I resigned myself to the fact that we will be competing with Vandy, South Carolina and UK and that’s it.

Boy was I so happy to be wrong. There isn’t a single person on this board that expected anything close to what Heupel has done. Not one. I am gonna go ahead and say it. The job Heupel has done here so far is better than ANY of our modern era coaches.
