Would you bet against the Vols if you were able to win a lot of money?

Why would you not bet against them? You could still cheer for them. It is not as if you are turning in your status as being a fan, or changing the outcome of the game.

I'm not gonna bet on an outcome that I dont want to happen.

If you were a Vol fan you wouldn't... But if you have common sense, then yes, I would bet against Tenn to win a fat stack of money.. Especially looking at the past few seasons..

The first few times I bet on the Vols, I lost EVERY DAMNED TIME.

After that, I only bet against them, and they started winning.

Only bet on big games, only bet against them, is my rule. The bigger the game - the more I want to win the game, the more I put down.

when I bet its about winning money and has nothing to do with what team I am a fan of.
So yes I would bet for and against the Vols as required to give myself the best chance of winning.

However I seldom ever bet on the vols either for or against.

I rarely ever bet. But if I was going to I would bet on the Vols. Just for the hell of it. Even if I thought I would probably lose. Because I am prideful as hell. Betting against them seems like I am agreeing that we will "most likely" lose. That is never how I think about a Tennessee game. I always see some wild possibility where the chips could fall our way and we could win in a miracle. If I was an unbiased, gambling fan, I would bet against Tennessee every week. But that is not the case. Therefore I do not play. The games are intense enough for me as it is. I don't need any added outside pressure.

The outcome of Tennessee games either make or break my emotions. I don't need them to affect anything else. Especially not my money.

I love the Vols, but that love does not pay my morgage.

Me betting against the Vols will not cause them to lose...but if I bet against them, it had better be a sure thing. Also, the money would have to be very good.

No. My faith knows no price. Plus, if i've learned something in my life, it's that nothing is guaranteed or a sure thing.

I got LSU at either 16.5 or 17.5 this year.. You're crazy if you think I didn't bet it.

HAHAAH....this is the most no brainer question I have ever heard. My financial well being definitly is way above my love for the Vols. Last I checked, Derek Dooley or any other member of the UT AD dept has yet to pay my mortgage

The vols didn't have a problem losing when I bet for them, so no, I wouldn't have a problem betting against them.

Yes. Although I have found that when betting on Vols game, you tend to get burned. At least that's my experience.

In my buisness class yesterday we were talking about different things, and ended up talking about betting on ball games (mainly because March Madness is here). Someway the discussion turned to UT football, and whether or not you would bet against the Vols in either National Championship game, and/or playing against Bama or Florida. The discussion was if it was $10,000 or more.

So would you put your fan and school loyalty on the line, for the chance to win over $10,000?

So did you inadvertently just create a thread that routed out all the nega-vols on this forum? Nice :shades:

Gambling against your team doesn't mean your less than a loyal fan as long as winning that bet doesn't bring pleasure. If it does you aren't a true fan no matter the dollar amount.

Hell yes! I used to bet against Fulmer all the time and it usually worked out.

I dont bet on football anymore, but this is a no brainer.

Good Lord. Give the nega-vol stuff a break. You're not very intelligent if you wouldn't bet against the Vols if it would provide financial stability for life. You think the UT AD is as loyal to you? Nega-vol because of a bet...smh.
