Would you bet against the Vols if you were able to win a lot of money?

In my buisness class yesterday we were talking about different things, and ended up talking about betting on ball games (mainly because March Madness is here). Someway the discussion turned to UT football, and whether or not you would bet against the Vols in either National Championship game, and/or playing against Bama or Florida. The discussion was if it was $10,000 or more.

So would you put your fan and school loyalty on the line, for the chance to win over $10,000?

Well if the Vols win, you would be so happy that the money wouldn't matter. And if the Vols lost, the 10k would almost be enough to make you feel a tad better I suppose.

Over 10k all day.

But that's cause I'm a poor college student. Now, later in life, maybe not.

Edit: Let me rephrase. If it was guaranteed that UT would lose I would bet against them. If it was 50/50, I'd bet for the Vols.

Yes. Easy. No question. I have a heart and I have a brain and most importantly, I manage to keep them separate.

If the line is well done, then you have a 50/50 shot at winning. I'm not EVER going to bet against the Vols for a 50/50 shot. Now if someone wants to bet me $10,000 that UT is going to win the national championship in football next year, I'd gladly take there money and then hope we finish a close second in the title game.

You need to ask for a refund for what you paid to take that class if that's what's being discussed. Good Lord, who is the overpaid "professor"??

Oh it was after class was over with, and about 12 students and stayed over discussing it. Should have made it more clear.

I have a rule against betting for or against teams I love. If I bet they win, they lose and if I bet they lose (yes I have) they win. Except for 2007 vs uga and 2009 vs uga. Made money there

absolutely. i'd bet against them if it meant winning $10.

I see it as hedging myself anyway. If they win, I'm happy, even if I lost money. If they lose I'd be bummed, but at least won some money.

Personal decisions and business decisions are different. Personally, I would not bet against UT. Business wise I take all emotion out of the process and only go by the numbers. If you do not do this you end up making decisions that are not lucrative.

Depends on which debate you guys were having in your business class--business or personal.

Heck, I took Arkansas and gave the 12 points (I think?) in a New York Minute in football this year. There was no way that was enough points for us, on the road, without Bray....easy $$$

Why not? It's possible to bet against UT and them still win the game

The two times I bet against TN 94 or 95 AL game I lost. Only time I bet for TN I won big 03 Miami game. I quit after that.

The way I see it is, if your gonna gamble you might as well gamble on a team you know the most about.
