Would you be Okay if they appointed Jay Graham interim coach immediately?

No. I have some hope we'll keep Graham around in the new regime and allow him to build his experience like a Fulmer or a Cutcliffe.

I'd just let Dooley play out the string. Hopefully we've got folks working the back channels to bring in the next coach.

Agree with your hope that he's still around. He needs time with a solid HFC. I wish him nothing but the best and would love to see him successful enough to coach UT some day.

I know this won't be a popular comment, but Dooley hasn't had things go his way at all since he's been here. Last year, his O-Line was young and his D-line was small and very below average talent wise. The trenches and J Hunt going down really made him look bad last year. This year, those areas are much improved, but now he has a brand new set of issues on his hands. First off, there's only one decent RB and he's been hurt. The secondary is below average talent wise and they haven't developed chemistry despite many efforts to make changes and find something that works. Lastly, his QB has been throwing picks most of the year and has played very poorly in the 4th quarter. The fact that we have had no running game has made us very predictable. Kind of hard to protect the football when you're throwing tons of passes into pass protection coverages. Like many of you, I was really down on Dooley last year when he lost to Kentucky. But he set a goal to get better in the trenches this year and I think he did a pretty good job getting Sentimore and McCullers. The O-line is way better this year than last so he should get some credit for fixing the areas that were the biggest need last year! I think if he had another year, he would address the secondary and RB issues and we would be a much better team next year. There is improvement, it's just not the kind of improvement people were expecting.

I think it would be: Sal-interim HC (he's done that before), Conklin-becomes DC (he's done that before), and Ansley becomes DB coach (what he's doing now, plus safeties).

Not saying I agree with/predict it...but saying it's possible...

I think Jay Graham at interim gives him exposure...people see him go 3-1, 4-0 as interim HC in the SEC and start thinking he's OC, HC-in-waiting material...we want him retained as RB coach which would be more difficult if he was seen nationally as interim HC.

Which makes me say it'll probably either Chaney, Hinshaw, or Coiner...

Also, Palermo may get consideration with Nick Gentry taking over as DL coach...

From a long term perspective... NO.... if graham becomes interim head coach... he would definitely expect a fair shot during HC search... and fans want a splash hire... so it is a lose - lose situation... coz Graham aint gonna get that HC job at this point of time... If i remember right... thats wat happened to Kippy brown when lane quit????

I don't care who they name. For all I care they could just cancel the rest of the season if that was the only way to avoid Dooley coaching another game. I just want him gone. Whoever they name as interim can't do any worse than losing every conference game.

Why Coiner? The secondary has by far been the weakest link of this team, he needs to be demoted if anything.

Just curious in case that scenario came to fruition.
I'd be okay.Anything is better than what we have now.
I just hope their is an interim coach. I don't know if they would want it to be Graham, but if he's up to the task, I'd prefer him over the others. I can't think of anyone I'd prefer to get our 800th win more than him that's currently on the staff.

Hate to break it to you, but I don't think we're getting to 800 this year. Wouldn't that require us to win 3 out of 4?

He will not be. A new coach will pick a whole new staff.

Exactly , especially if we get a wow hire . Can you see Hart telling Gruden , yeah Jon we really want you as our HC but you have to retain Jay Graham .
