Would you be happy with John Chavis?

There's a reason why in his extremely successful career as a defensive coordinator that he's not become a head coach somewhere. I'll let you figure out why.

A true VFL, coming home to right the ship. All we need is a good OC and assistants.:)

I think you may be on to something here. What if we got Majors as our head coach, and then Fulmer as line coach, Chavis as DC, Cutcliff as OC, get that young buck Randy Sanders lets make him the qb coach. You know kind of like you see in the movies where they take all the old stars put them together and try to make a movie. Same thing for Tennessee football. I think under that scenario we could likely reel in Mike Hamilton for the AD position and we would be off to the races. While we are at it - let's bring in Pat Summit as the d-line coach. Everybody loves Pat and she isn't doing that much now that Hart fired her so that would be a good fit I think. Plug in anybody in the rest of the slots - really doesn't matter since we are already stacked in the aforementioned coaching positions.

...wut?

First of all, that makes absolutely no sense considering what I said.

Second of all, what on earth does Dooley have to do with John Chavis?

Because Chavis actually has just as good of a resume than Dooley does. He was a D/C on a MNC team, keep good defenses and was a sought out commodity when Fulmer was let go. He actually looked better that what we ended up with. Give him a good reruiting coordinator and he would do ok.

We would not lose to Kentucky......:)

I wouldn't as head coach. A guy up here heard he was a candidate for UK Head Coach, and he does have ties to Barnhardt but I just really really doubt that story. I remember him beingn a candidate at Cinci in the 90's I think but dont think it was too serious

He was a VFL before it was cool. All I am saying is Ol Chief would bust his azz for UT.

Yeah, in a heartbeat. Should have at least given Chavis the job on an interim basis while we looked for the right coach, instead of panicking after firing Fulmer. Chavis is very qualified, and could hire a good recruiting staff and OC.
