Would we be welcome at Neyland?

Guys this may sound like I am being a jerk, but I am not. UT just released some more tickets to the game Sat and me and my wife would like to come. We have never been to an opponents stadium.

I would like to take her but I have heard horror stories, not of UT, but of just games in general where the opposing teams fans had drinks poured on them and all sorts of stuff.

So what say ye? :peace2:

Just stop hitting on guys in the stadium and you'll go ok.

Just don't go near the student section or attempt to sit there.
They don't take opposing fans in their section very well, and rightly so.

Other than that you should be fine if you don't take offense to the occasional drunk heckler (there's usually a few everywhere though, I met quite a few at Bama last year but it didn't ruin the trip).

Thanks guys/gals I would like to think I would be treated like I treat other fans. Dignity and respect. I even took a picture for an ole miss group shot Sat. :)

On a side note: Should the wife leave the houndstooth hat at home?
Dude wear your pride...if that includes the hat go for it.

I'm not saying this because I'm a homer but Neyland is really one of the most visitor team friendly stadiums I've ever been in.

The only time I ever see Vol fans get irked is if the visiting fans start mouthing off i.e UGA fans. I've been to many Bama vs. UT games with Bama fans and we've always had a good time. Even with UT losing some of those.

Like you said, show some class and respect and Vol fans will return that two fold.

Go Vols.

Your brother in law sounds very smart....you, "not so much."

Seriously I hate bama with a purple passion dating back at least 40 years, at least, but I dont begrudge a fan being a fan, especially any team that would find a place for Forrest Gump to play.

GO VOLS

If you do come and you said this was your first trip to Neyland. If bama loses I'll buy you and your wife tickets every other year. To see if we can start a trend. :)
Its a grate place, go and have a grate time.

Every team has iits diots but you will be fine. Just ignore the verbal crap. My guess is that it will be better than a trip to Jordan Hare.

I would hope you have a good time. I go down to Tuscaloosa every other year and tailgate on the strip next to the bookstore in the heart of Bama Nation. Besides being spit at by a kid from the upper deck the fans have been rather hospitable.

I will be there. Like everyone said, every team has a few jerks for fans. While I have had a couple of things happen at Neyland, nothing compares to Baton Rough. Those people like to fight too much. I was treated better sitting in the student section at AU, wearing BAMA shirt, when I was a student there than at LSU sitting in the BAMA section. When those couple of things happened the people sitting next to me were vol fans and they were on my side and apologizied for the jerks.

Well I am not a terd! :)

I just called my brother in law who is a big UT fan and he may go with us so I at least have somebody in orange on my side.....I hope...LOL!

The only thing that worries me is that you'll probably be sitting in the student section since they turned back so many tickets I believe. They'll of course be drunk and some may cause you to have a bad time if the game is close. But you should be ok.

But there will be 30k+ Bama fans I'm sure so you'll have them all around you.

The student section tickets returned are upper deckers so the drunk students will not be as bad up there.

I have been to Neyland Stadium for quite a few Bama games. The fans are good and everybody has a good time. If Tennessee wins you will see a celebration unlike alot of campuses. That is something to see in itself. As much as I have hated those long walks out of Neyland, it is something that I am glad I have seen. They have never torn down the
goal post in Tuscaloosa and carry them down University Blvd, like they did in Knoxville on Cumberland one year.

I have been to Bryant Denny as well. Other than the idiot babbling fool (like all teams have) the fans were fine. I just kept my mouth shut and enjoyed the game. As far as other campuses go, UF, UGA, LSU...who other story.

Not kidding, my uncle and I went to a UF-TN game in 01 (the hailmary game) and he had to get taken to the hospital afterwards cause he was hit in the head with a glass beer bottle filled with urine. We were not even talking, just walking back to our car.
