Would we be better off with Currie still AD?

Mike Leach is a proven winner. Every stop he’s made, he’s had success. It takes him a bit to get the right guys in his system, but once he does, it’s explosive. I’d kill to have Leach right now, weird quirks and all!
Leach did beat LSU this year. Something Mullen and Kiffen didn't accomplish.

LOL, he is the king of blowing big leads! He is not a winner!

This is who Mike Leach is in one summed up in one game...

Was Currie really that bad of an AD? I mean he did listen to the fans and back off the Schiano hiring once he saw the backlash. Plus he supposedly was close to hiring Leach when he was fired. All things considered, do you think we’d be better off with Currie still here, rather than the past 3 years with Fulmer at the helm?

When would you have canned him? He won 9 games the year before he was fired. 9 wins in back to back seasons..hard to even fathom today
Those teams were stacked. Each year they lost multiple games they should’ve won. I personally think that 2015 team was one of the best in the country and probably should’ve finished at least 11-1

Either way, the dumpster is ablaze.

Currie could have locked down Mullen before Florida came calling and we would not be in this position today.

Fulmer had me wrapped in a warm blanket but continuing to support Pruitt after what we have seen.. he has lost my support. I appreciate him as a coach and VFL. I know he loves the university, but Pruitt is an absolute train wreck. It's ok he didn't work out, it was a tough position Phil was in. Just a complete mess of a search so just admit the mistake and go fix it. Digging in just makes everything worse.

Also, comparing Pruitt to Majors is a damn insult to a Vol LEGEND. Pruitt is not good enough to be the tissue Johnny wiped his azz with.

Currie would have got us Leach, who is way better than Redneck Butch. Problem is, I remember that s*** eating grin on his face when he was teasing us about bringing a big coach, only to throw a pedo enabler in our face (Schiano). That little worm deserved what he got. Anything from Paterno and Ped State = eeeeewwwwww.

142-97 with winning records everywhere he’s been minus a few seasons here and there. What he did at Texas Tech and Washington State is impressive for schools their size and typical stature within their conference. Give him 2-3 years at Mississippi State and you’ll be singing a different tune. And if you’re honestly saying you’d prefer Pruitt over Leach, then I’m not sure I can trust your judgement.

Where we went wrong, more than once, was not hiring David Blackburn.
I’m confused as to the desire for Blackburn now, isn’t he just an assistant AD at MTSU or something now? How does that qualify him to run our athletics department

Yes. Under Fulmer we are paying a larger than needed buyout for women's BB, owe a way larger than needed buyout for his failed football hire, season ticket sales were down 8-9,000 during the Fulmer tenure for football, pre-pandemic resulting in a multi-million dollar revenue stream loss. Instead of being in year three with a hc who is a proven winner we are in year three and set yet another record for bad losses.

How dare you bring facts to this argument!

I prefer keeping Pruitt over hiring Mike Leach

To me the question is if we would be better off if Schiano had been hired as the HC and we got rid of Currie anyway.

Why is he still here? He is supposed to be the business leader of the Athletic Department. He was also going to let Rick Barnes leave for UCLA but thankfully Randy Boyd stepped in.

Two large boosters are backing him.

He managed UTC very well. The man has common sense, and that is why he is a desirable AD. However with the cast of unnamed egomaniacs having a say, he is right where he needs to be for now.
