Would Texas A&M Fit in the SEC?

yeah, i was really surprised when I go on their message board expecting them to dis the SEC, but they knew their place and even said that they wouldn't want to go to the SEC to get beaten down by the UGA UF and UT every year. I've always liked A&M, this just makes me respect them more

The Aggies would get blasted not only the Gators, UGA and the Vols but by LSU also. They'd be lucky to have 3 winning seasons in 10 if they joined the SEC. They'd fall in the same category as Arkansas & South Carolina (middle of the pack). They are better off in the Big 12(once the Southwest Conference).

why would they want to leave the big 12, they wouldn't be a good fit at all

It would be more of a rivalry for LSU because we have played A&M dating back to the 1890's, I think. LSU also competes with A&M and the Longhorns in recruiting Texas, esp. in the Houston area. They have a pretty old history with Arkansas, as well. I think they would be a natural fit in the SEC West.

But A&M fits way more naturally in the Big 12 and it gives them a much better chance of winning playing Baylor every year. In the SEC west, every team is better than Baylor football.

A&M in the SEC would help out our recruiting quite a bit because it would be much easier to go into Texas and recruit.

It's fun to speculate.

Texas A and M is a sleeping giant program. If they got the right coach, they could compete in the Big 12 easy. The SEC West is tough however, and I see them finishing mid-pack ahead of Ole Mess and Miss State.

A&Ms talent would be at best 9th in the SEC. why bring in a mediocre program?

I actually think if A&M had the right coach, that them being in the SEC would help them.

Alot of players like to play in the SEC thinking that it is the best conference, and all of the Texas talent that wanted to play in the SEC could stay in state.

Although, right now they would be mediocre and in the long run, they would probably help teams like Tennessee, LSU, South Carolina etc... teams that like to go out of state to recruit.

Yes, and there is one team in the SEC East that is a mirrow image of A&M right before they fired R.C. Slocum..........lots of sucess initially, with multiple conference titles and 10+ winning seasons........then a steady decline in fortunes to the point of losing second tier bowl games to mediocre teams. Yet the administrations reluctulance to get rid of the head coach brecause of his being an alum of the school and the fading hope of his regaining past glory.
