loud on TV. Jordan Hare is fun and Auburn fans are pretty nice. I was there for our 42-0 win in 1980 when Auburn had a Heisman Trophy candidate in James Brooks. Also witnessed the Tennessee Waltz a home in 1985 (second favorite UT game of all time). Tony Robinson was the best UT QB I ever saw. Saw a bunch of losses down there, too. Auburn rivalry is my favorite. It's had a feeling of sportsmanship--opposite of our rivary with the jorts school. I salute all of you that went. The players felt it and some commented on it afterwards. Vol Nation could be heard raising hell in JHS. Well done.

It was fantastic. Weather was perfect, everyone was nice, venue is great and we showed up en force. Heard many comments from Auburn fans at how surprised they were by so many Vols fans making the trip. By the 4th, Rocky Top was the loudest thing in the place.

I echo your sentiment, Auburn is a classy place unlike some of our other rivals. I’ve been lucky to go to several auburn games as a kid with family friends who are auburn alumni. Got to see Cadillac and Ronnie brown play Syracuse in 3 overtime’s during their 2002 season, as a young kid it was a something else to watch them play. Auburn and UT have a lot in common in that both have that family feeling when your on campus there. You can feel the energy as soon as you pass toomers corner just like you do when you turn onto Cumberland in Knox!!

Oh and how could I forget the circle drill? POTSB brought it yesterday too and got a standing ovation from the whole stadium.

Only able to watch on TV but was amazed how loud Rocky Top came across. Kudos to those who made the trip and thanks for representing. Was one of many aspects of the broadcast and game that made me smile and give me hope for the future. Wife and I will be making the trek to watch the Bama game Saturday. Not expecting a miracle, but now thinking I might enjoy a spirited effort and some hard hitting football from our Vols.

You are the man! Or woman. Whatever. You were rewarded with a win over over Auburn which will be remembered for a long time.

Sorry in advance for the thread derailment...

How do you pronounce "Jordan Hare?" I heard the announcers more than once pronounce it, "Jer-den Hare." Weird.

Have to admit it brought tears to my eyes to see so many there to cheer on the team. Seeing so many of us arm in arm swaying to the waltz is something I will never forget.

We should do that at the end of every 3rd quarter of all games! We need something at that time very badly to give the team and fans some energy going into the 4th.

Shug Jordan ( Pronounced JER-dan) was the great Auburn coach during the 50s-early 70s. The stadium is Pronounced like his name.

When the fumble recovery for TD happened Volnation dominated the stadium the rest of the game. All the fans (UT & AU) we were around in and out of the stadium were cordial and pleasant to be around. It was an amazing moment at the end of the game seeing that many Vol fans in the stadium celebrate.

Didn't they also have Brandon Jacobs? Compares to our 3-running back combo of Jamal Lewis, Cheese and Shawn Bryson.

The AU-UT series was very special back in the day. Both being land grant universities and sharing a lot of the same colleges produced a unique relationship between the schools. Before UT had a Vet school most UT grads were accepted into the AU Vet program and a lot of AU agricultural students would do their post-graduate work at UT. There was some type of arrangement between the schools where you would not have to pay out of state for these programs at the time.

There were many marriages between AU and UT students in the past.

There were some great games in the series too. The 1973 rain game where UT got the lead and punted on first down for the rest of the game. The 1985 Sports Illustrated game where TRob stole the cover away from Bo Jackson. The 1980 game in Auburn that UT won 40-0. Much more class to this series than UGA or UF.

You are so right, Carl.

Yup, Jacobs played for auburn in 2003. Looks like he rushed for about about 442 yards and 2 td’s on 73 carries. They should of won the title that year. They are Definitely comparable to our 3 headed attack you mentioned.

The UT fans totally owned their corner of the stadium. As the fourth quarter wound down and the Auburn fans began to drift out, all the UT fans just flowed in and made that end a mini version of Neyland. It felt electric. And when the cheers broke out for the team as they headed of the field and the band started playing the Tennessee Waltz, the bright sun and deep blue fall sky.....man it was glorious.

I was on there on the opposite side of the stadium. Vols fans were very loud in the main section. Auburn was also pretty quiet even from the very beginning. I was really surprised that they were so tame.
