Would Jon Gruden be interested in job?

We need someone who would light a fire. Gruden would fit that bill. What do you not like about Gruden? It certainly can't be his resume'.

Hell No I don't want gruden here!!! I don't want to see the west coast offense run in Knoxville...Have yall failed to realize that it's Tampa's Defense that have won 95% of Gruden's games while he has been there???

Dungy had a Super Bowl team but was robbed in 00 in the NFC title game by the refs Bert Emmanual caught the ball but they said he didn't we were going to score on the that drive but the refs said other wise we shut down the greatest show on turf that day...

The year Tampa won the SB do you not remember how dominate that defense was?? 3 TD's alone in the SB...Gruden's offense has never EVER been in the top in the NFL in Rankings there lucky just to be out of the 20's do I have to mention the fact the LaDainion Tomlinson(sp) scored more points than the entire Bucs offense did last season!!

So yeah lets bring in Jon and watch the Vols play no I think not!! Give me a proven college coach anyday

When the time comes for MH to have his talk with Fulmer, I would love to be a fly on the wall. I imagine this is what he will say:

MH: "Phil, have you ever seen Smiling Bob on the Enzyte commercials?"

Phil: "Yeah, that guy thats always got that stupid grin on his face like he's got something bigger and better than all other men."

MH:)

Phil:You didn't!

MH:)

Phil:...But I've tried like heck and I'm working real hard to get it fixed.I've done this:clapping:so hard my hands hurt!

MH:)

Phil:It's Gruden huh.

MH:)

Phil::blink:

Gruden::superman:

MH:salute: see ya around town Phil.

This is very clever... I needed a good laugh. :good!:

Hell, lets just go out and get Spurrier to be the head coach and hire Bob Stoops for the defense and Urban Meyer for the offense. If Gruden is available and interested than I would have to believe he is the top choice.

Why do you not get that just because you don't succeed in the NFL doesn't mean anything when it translates to the college game.

Pete Carroll got fired from the Jets in his first year, and got fired from the Pats in his 3rd year. Brooks, Spurrier, and Saban all coached in the NFL, and none had success, but they're top tier SEC Coaches now.

Do you have OCD? Is it really a big deal which thread is open for discussion? You gave someone else a hard time about this earlier. I'd hate to move the magazines on your coffee table.

Seriously just trying to help, man. There is some excellent discussion in that thread about the Gruden possibility by people with a lot of football knowledge.

I'm more ADD than OCD. :peace2:

I just realized what other thread you were referring to. Yeah, I never claimed that I wasn't a smart azz.

Hope I didn't come off wrong, I was just kidding.

Someone told me that on 104.5 The Zone in nashville today that Jon Gruden said that he was interested in the HC job on the hill. He also said he heard it on espn radio. Has anyone on here heard that???????

i hope it is true, we need a total house cleaning.

It's all good, man. I can see where I might come across badly. Just know, that most of what I post on here is in a vain attempt to be funny.

Go Vols. :peace:

Some bigtime UT boosters would have to come up with the $6.5 million---UT doesn't have that kind of money.

If this is true, it would have hit the Tampa Tribune in Tampa. I called one of my best friends in the brokerage business in Tampa to ask if has heard anything concerning Chucky being talked to by Tennessee or initiating contact with UT admin. He responded "there had been nothing in the media that would put "Tennessee football and Gruden" in the same sentence.

So, is all this Gruden talk, just initiated by board "dreamweavers"?

You do realize Gruden is barely a .500 coach. People are making him out to be some coaching zen master.

Okie Dokie. But I'm not as certain as you.

My preference would be that Tennessee go find the next great national coaching talent, and build another long tenured era. If your going to change direction, make a decision that will carry some stability into the future...

AMEN....I love Coach Fulmer but I saw an article today that I believe makes the best case for why Tennessee should change Head Coaches.....We are sticking to an archaic offensive philosophy that is causing the best recruits to go to other programs similiar to the UT situation before Doug Dickey took the reins....Tennessee needs to find and support a new coach that brings us into competiveness with the top programs and who wants to be around for several years....The security of who is going to be the coach is a Tennessee strength....As much as I love Coach Fulmer....I don't believe that he can give the UT program a competitive edge.....Good Point Orange+White

It's hard to look at NFL win-loss records to determine a good coach. Jeff Fisher is barely over .500 and I know he is one hell of a coach. I'm sure a Gruden college record would look a lot better. Do you think Fulmer could stay over .500 in the NFL?

are you insane? do you know anything about UT athletics? they could get that money easily on their own practically. If they really needed help, they have plenty of boosters that could throw that in the pot. One certain one could pay for it all by himself if he wanted the change.

What are Vol Nation members thoughts on a coach who has not been a head coach in college or the pros (I believe) but who has some real pedigree......Norm Chow.....as an example....

I'll take anybody that can get us back to the SEC Championship consistantly, don't care if walks off the street somewhere, as long as he gets us where we use to be and should be
