Would Jimmy Johnson be welcome as next UT coach?

I just heard him talking on Mike and Mike in the morning.He said the difference between college and pro football coaching is coaching in the NFL you have no family life.He said he would see his wife (not in her pajama's) one day a week. This is the reason he left the NFL because it was too demanding. In contrast to that, he said a college football coach has a life outside of coaching. This said I think he would entertain the idea of getting back into college coaching. I know he and Majors having coaching ties. Question is would he be interested in the UT coaching job and would you welcome him? I would welcome him.Thoughts?

if he coaches college again it'll be out here at his alma mater, arkansas

He won with a bunch of thugs in miami--no need for that style at UT.

I think we should go after Hayden Fox. He won big at Minnesota St., and did a good job with the Orlando Breakers. He's been wanting to get back into coaching, and he's younger than Jimmy Johnson.

I hated Jimmy until he owned the NFL with Dallas and got shafted by Jerry Jones. If Fulmer retired and Dale Jones, Peyton Manning, or Tee Martin were unavailable and he would coach here 10 years then I would be for it. He is too old though.

He had a great run, left too early imo. Good for him.

he wouldn't bother me. It would be kind of strange seeing all the vols get off a plane in Florida wearing fatigues though.

I don't know how much energy he would bring, sometimes coaches aren't as successful at the end of the career as they were in the beginning, i.e. Bowden, Paterno, etc. That would be my concern.

If Phil left this season, I say bring JJ in. If Phil plays out his contract, Jimmy will be too old. As a Cowboy fan, I would LOVE to see Jimmy in Orange and White, I'm just not sure he would have any interest.

He will never coach again and if he does it wont be at a school or for a team that he can not reach his boat by car within 10 minutes. He has said that many time before.

Jimmy would put the best 11 on the field regardless of what name was on the jersey or what his level of seniority. Nobody's job would be safe. And that's a good thing. He treats every player differently, gets into their head. Players WANT to play for him because they respect him as a coach and a teacher. Yeah he would be a great hire, but I doubt he will get back into coaching.

You've got all kind of lakes here in Knoxville (how long does it take to get from Neyland to Calhoun's?). I don't understand where you're going with this. :unsure:

Yah, uh ocean is more suitable to what he wants. He has rather large boats in Texas and Miami and has said many times that if he can not get in his car and drive 10 minutes to his boat on the ocean, he will not move there.

Although my favorite lake to be on is Tellico(we have property there) he is an ocean man.
