There doesn't seem to be a downside for Pruitt with this hire. If Freeze does extremely well, then Pruitt will get credit for that. If Pruitt is concerned about someone taking his job at this point, then he doesn't need to be a HC. This would be a big feather in the cap for Pruitt and it will give Pruitt a chance to gain perspective from a great coach. I really can't see a downside.
Honestly, if it's not Freeze, I'm going to be worried about Pruitt's decision making. This could really make him as a coach. Not pulling the trigger on a big hire like this is such a Butch Jones move.
Big coaches make big hires. The HC is CEO of his football team, offensive production doesn't equal what all a head coach does.
I want Freeze, but I am beginning to think Pruitt does't really want him or we would have already hired him. I am afraid we are going to get an oc from Hoover. To me Freeze would be an easy hire here if we really wanted him. Our offense has no where to go but up, and then in couple of years if he is successful he will get a hc opportunity and he will take it, but it would be well worth it to turn our offense around. Why would he want to go to Ala, how is he going to improve their offense??
