Would Coach Heupel start a true freshman QB ?

Won’t this year.
If Heupel thought that he would not have recruited over both Merk and Mac. He would start them if Ag was a total failure after getting him on campus but that does not seem to be the case. Both Merk and Mac will be challenged by Heupel's QB coming in next year as a freshman.

Scary thing is....I read GMac has gained 20 pounds since he's been on campus. Ike's..

Here’s how I think it goes. Merk starts. JA plays too and his running ability and ability to throw on the run shows up in games whereas it won’t as much in practice, so he takes over by game 3.

Based off of what? Read some practice reports have him(Merklinger) being more accurate than Aguilar.
That’s is routes on air at the beggining of practice. Apparently Merklinger had a rough day today. Going into the scrimmage the general consensus was Aguilar was in the lead. I don’t think that changed today. Can GMac win the back up job?

George Maclntyre is trending up . A lot of unknowns here beig a true freshman .
( positives ) probably the best athlete of the three , as good or better arm as the other two , definitely the highest ceiling of the three . He comes from a football family , so the pedigree is there .
( negatives ) he is bone thin and needs to gain about 25 pounds and he has no experience at the college level .
Three weeks from today , can't get here fast enough.
If he is the starter, when does his NIL jump to $1.5 million?

He weighed 206. That’s it. If you want to opine that’s too small then that’s up to you, just keep the facts straight.
I love GMac’s potential. But more than likely he would be best served another year off getting stronger and gaining muscle and studying the playbook. At 6’6” it would be ideal for him to at least get to 215 by next year. He should be 220-225 in a few years. But ultimately it will be a coaching decision, and I trust Heupel will make the best one. Peyton was awfully light his freshman year, but played out of necessity his freshman year. It has been done, I still think Joey is going to grasp things and win the spot. GBO

So was Peyton, his last 23 games he threw 23 interceptions as a Vol. Aguilar 25 games, 24 interceptions. When you're having to throw it 35- 40 times a game, yeah you're gonna turn it over. Look at Danny Wuerffel..Fla threw it all over the place..23 games his last 2 years, 23 Int's

And those interceptions are why he never beat Florida or won the big game. If JA starts and throws his average of 1 interception per game this season the ceiling for this team is 8-4.
I’ve been watching several of the old games on YouTube lately. The games are luckily condensed. Anyway, I can’t remember which game it was but I think it was the ‘96 Florida game where he had something like five int’s. Now, could be three and we had two or three fumbles but, I remember turnovers killed us just like the ‘93 Bama game.

I just don't think it should take anyone that long to add that much weight.

And that’s the problem. Peyton didn’t throw INT’s against the weaker competition he threw them against the better teams. This is not a knock on Peyton obviously he was a great QB but INT’s cost us at least twice against Florida during his career.
