I can't remember a game where our offense has played so poorly, and we still won.

Any other games which would eclipse this one?

Granted, I will take it and I hope the team learns from it that even when it seems everything is going against you, to keep playing and get the win.

Even so, this was Dooley level ugly. Roadkill ugly. Can anyone remember a game where we looked so anemic and played so badly against what should have been a way overmatched team and yet pulled it out?

Considering they were 11-2 last season, I would say no not even close there have been much worse teams we actually lost to genius boy

The only reason UT won tonight is because the Appy State kicker is terrible. I told my son when he missed that extra point it would end up being huge. He laughed it off at the time. He wasn't laughing in the end. There is the difference in the game right there. Plus, he missed another FG attempt as well.

Also, lucky for the Vols the Appy State coach inexplicably let the regulation clock run out with a TO in his pocket. Now, we all know there was no way in hell their FG was going to kick a game winning FG, but still.

If you're gonna buy into the hype and come out flat do it against Appy St or Ohio. Don't do it against Va Tech and damn sure don't do it against Ala Ga or Fla.

We won. It was ugly. Hopefully the kids were paying attention. Let's hope they take this flat performance to heart and fix it.

Full spaz mode on VN. I checked in at half time and remembered why I stay off during a game. How many threads have to be created for everyone to get something off their chest? It was a bad game all around. Got a win against a team that was pushing hard for a win. We won't have bad games all season. Get a grip and take a breath.

What a freaking roller coaster of a ball game. I said it before but I'll say it again. Not enough Vol fans respected App St going into this game. Their defense stopped us in key moments, our seniors made some terrible mental errors, their running game was creative and productive, our offensive play calling was bland and stale, Dobbs was off cadence most of the night (similar to Vandy last yr)--it was a disaster and we are a better team than what we saw tonight, BUT our team lies on the back of our seniors, as we saw tonight. And please give credit to App st they are a decent threat to any team with their rushing attack. We are probably a top 15 team with a chance to pull off big upsets if things get clicking early, that's where I see us right now. Our defense is very scrappy, which is a positive to take away from this night. Our passing game needs a lot of work and our offensive play calling needs a serious face lift--it seemed very predictable all night. Kamara needs to see more touches, period! Josh Smith as well! Full steam ahead for the Battle at Bristol!
