Worst Team all around I have seen since Dooley

Worst defense put on the field since Sunseri? What about that defense that gave up 48 points and 721 yards of offense to Troy?

OL = Really Bad. No push at all
WR= Not Good
QB= Sucks. And is a Senior WTF
OFF Cood= Play Calling looked like Fulmer Days

DL= Getting Blown off the Ball. Could not get off Tackles
LB=Getting blocked out by OL
Safety = I saw TK standing around not tackling
Corner=playing WR good but not playing the run at all
Def Cood= Worse Defense put on the field since Sunseri

HC=Worst job Coach Jones has done since coming to UT

And it chaps my ass to see Coach Jones just clap his hands when a player is not playing well or does something wrong or misses an assignment. He just claps his hands like a cheerleader. I prefer the Saban approach of chewing arse!

And finally, this is what you get when you practice like you are afraid someone will get hurt! The old coaches had it right and it don't take an expert to realize they looked like they are afraid to hit someone with no toughness. I would much rather have a coach that made practice tough as hell. Bear Bryant used to make practice so hard he barely could field a team. But those were the toughest group of players any other team faced.

Didn't get the raise?

UT's offense is unimaginative, uncreative, and stale. It's a version of the spread that was en vogue when it first started gaining popularity about 15 years ago.

And then when you mix in a slobby, pedestrian o-line, a feature RB with zero explosiveness and a passing game lacking precision and sophistication, you get what we saw last night.

What do you expect Debord to do if his QB is a very mediocre passer? Inky Johnson could have thrown a better pass with his bad arm than Dobbs did on the interception.

Why are you all mentioning he who must not be named?

That's right. Derek voldemort.

Lmao just a little negative aren't we. That was a heck of a defensive performance and if you can't see that then you need to go see a mental health professional

Clemson gave up to 10 to them last year, we give up 13 against them this year and the sky is falling at UT defensively??? Perhaps not for the critical thinking crowd on VN.

Team 120 definately needs to do some soul searching, especially the offense

Vol fans have been brought back down to earth by AS:cray:

I think the defense will be fine APP State averaged 38 a game last season so they do know how to run offense. We got blasted by their run game in the first half but adjusted in the second half. I think they get better as a group with every game.

The offense is a huge concern as it appears that Dobbs is a one dimensional QB and by that I mean handing the ball to Heard. He must make better decisions and the OC must try to open up the game a little more as it will be tough to run against the elite SEC defenses. I thought we had a good thing going with the short passing game when Dobbs could make an accurate throw then we abandoned it. The long throw to Malone was a great play by Malone as he was well covered and made a great play.

Shut up you whinny little biatch.....If you want to criticize a bunch of college players giving all they have against a good team (App state is rated higher than SIX SEC teams in the polls) The vols don't need or want you following the team, find another one to follow, Team 120 fought back after a stumble and a bunch of bad calls to win period!!!!!!! Jump of the wagon you are not wanted

I can understand your frustration. I get that this is a cumulative effect. However, I don't think any old philosophy on how to practice can be applied here or that a correlation even exists between tough practice and tough players. Just too many variables involved to make that leap. The challenge is that once we understand the situation in today's world the situation just changed. What does that mean? There is no cookie cutter approach. Once a new player sits at the poker table, then entire dynamic of the game just changed and you have to evolve immediately or face death.

seriously?? People need to relaxxxxx its week one! Yes the team got caught looking ahead and played terrible!

Worst defense since Sunseri!?!?! the D didnt play well ill give you that but all things considered this awful defense without thr leader JRM held a triple option team to 13 points.. not to bad if ya ask me.. also one of those TDs APPY state started with the ball on our 40...

No excuse for the offense as it was absolutely dreadful. But if we can hold teams to 13 points I like our odds in most games

I am somewhere near here....the D actually played pretty well considering the style of offense ASU plays. Their blocking scheme was different than most others....because they are smaller and have to or else they'll get steamrolled like we thought our VOLS would do. One TD off a TO; early and probably caught our guys off guard. The other w/ a D lineman trying to cover a faster player in space...not a good match up.

Their feature RB....well, after being totally frustrated I remembered my college days when we had a guy named Stump Mitchell running the ball....he'd miraculously pop out of a pile and run for 10 -30 more yards. Stump finished the 1980 season 2nd in NCAA behind George Rodgers (Heisman) and ahead of Herschall Walker who was in his freshman debut (another Heisman). Point is....sometimes small guys are harder to bring down.

Point is D wasn't so bad last night after I've had time to reflect. The O needs a wakeup call....ASU's D was quick and all over the place, but our front should have been able to handle them. Unless the rest of the schedule is putting quick, undersized guys on the front 7....the OL may be able to handle it.

I love how some want to act like App state was this quality opponent now. We were 20 point favorites for a reason people.
