For me it was the 2016 Texas A&M double overtime loss. I think that game broke the teams spirit and exposed them. We were on an 11 game win streak going into that game and ranked #9 in the country.
That loss started the 3 year downward spiral that some would say lasted until our current 6 game winning streak.
same reason I voted other

2010 LSU made me sick. Here I am going crazy cause it was a huge win, and then I see the game back on with the refs reviewing the play. Nauseating

The 2011 loss to Arkansas (49-7). There were more embarrassing losses, but that one felt like rock bottom for some reason. Being a reasonably competitive team seemed so far away at the time.

That punt return where the Arkansas returner broke a dozen tackles or so en route to a touchdown was a microcosm of the Dooley era.

I really considered that game but Arkansas was an elite team that year so I left it out. But it was embarrassing as hell

GaState or UK.

I went UK because I was still in denial about how far we had fallen back then.

Indiana. Oh wait a minute. Seriously GA State seems to be the obvious choice but I chose Florida 2015 instead. We outplayed them the whole game. We were a more talented team that year but that game pretty much defines our Florida curse. Something stupid has happened so many times against them and this game underscored this. Indiana last night was a carbon copy of Tennessee vs Florida - missed extra point, onside kick, poor clock management etc.
This is so true. We outplayed FL several times earlier in the decade but still found a way to lose. And 2015 was the worse.

My vote is 2016 Vandy. We shoukd have blown them off the field. Given the amount of talent we had on the field and being in Botchs 4th year. GS was definitely bad but we didnt beat UF and UGA thus year. Nor were we ever close to being ranked.

2016 Texas A&M. Had 5 or more turnovers and still made it to OT. The loss killed the momentum of a 5-0 start and coupled with all of the injuries suffered by the Vols, this just destroyed the rest of the season and was the beginning of the end for Butch, who never recovered from this.

2011 Kentucky was still a much worse loss IMO than this year's loss to Georgia State. This Ga State team would probably pulverize that 2011 Kentucky team. They had a WR as a QB and we knew going into the game that there was virtually no chance they'd score more than 14, and we still managed to somehow lose.

Ga State loss was bad, but at least they proved themselves to be a bowl team, and they crafted an entire gameplan that changed their offense so UT couldn't prepare for it. That 2011 Kentucky team was just awful, we knew exactly what they were going to do, and we still somehow managed to lose. I always thought Dooley was a bad hire, but that was the moment I knew there was no chance he could succeed. That's as much of a "layup" game as you could possibly get.

Yep I agree that loss beat us up too right before the Bama game. I thought Butch should’ve went for two when we instead of playing for overtime cause their defense was tired and Kamara was running wild on them I think we would’ve got the 2 pts and won cause their kicker later missed that 40 yard kick to win

The South Carolina and Vandy losses then put the nails in his coffin.
