Worley Will Start Against MTSU

Not suprised at all we had 36 yards rushing last night. They seriously need to fix our rushing game.

I'm more worried about the OL issues than a freshman QB. Who would have thought he would pull the kid after 1 start?

I think that's a good call and what I was hoping for. Here's what I said about Worley before the game. It went a little worse than a reasonable person would have expected. Sure wish Da'Rick could have caught his pass and Waggner could have made it to the end zone. Oh well, let everyone wig out, but Worley is our QB going forward as he should be.

O.K. Here's the thing. He is our best chance to win, because Simms is that bad. Odds are Worley will not see something when he makes a throw and gets a pick or two. Or, possibly a fumble. Those are freshmen mistakes we should expect.

On the flip side, if he can make any throws whatsoever and get Rivera and Rogers (the good one!) the ball, then it should give us a chance to beat SC. For anyone who has the stats handy, I'm pretty sure we averaged about 12 pts a game with Simms at the healm. Look for us to double that output against SC. I miss Bray right now and this is absolutely the best move for our team at this point in the season.

So, don't get down on Worley when he makes the mistakes he likely will. It should help us in the upcoming games. And, no, as some threads have already started saying, he's not going to be better than Bray. Probably not ever. IMO Bray is top 5 in the country right now. Even on the bench!

Even with the poor passes and mistakes Worley made, I think the positive is his accuracy and timing. Simms doesn't have either and never will. Let the kid get some experience and confidence, you've already burned the redshirt against the 7th best defense and he played as expected. Might as well let him play until Tyler comes back.

I think Worley is going to have a heck of a career. I couldnt imagine being his age and getting a SEC start. I think he was hyped a little which showed in his passes but saw some glimmers of what he can be.

The long throw after the fumble if it had a little more on it would have been 6. I like the call sorry. Football is a game of inches and your either a Hero or a Zero. Unfortunately for the coaches they are the ZERO. If it had of panned out we would have been saying we have the greatest coaches on the planet with guts.

Go VOLS...

If Dooley is going to permanently start Worley in the absence of Bray then he never should have pulled him in the game last night IMO.

Hopefully he gets some confidenence going against the raiders next Saturday.

He should start. I remember Peyton didn't have great stats in his first start. And he had talent around him and played Wash St. Also had Cutt coaching him. Worley was put in a bad situation.

thought Worley had a nice touch on a couple of those throws and that he will make a good QB as he learns.... you could tell that he was nervous and needs confidence.

I was a little surprised we didn't throw more short stuff, in the flat, screens, ect.

Id rather them do 50/50 and let the 2 compete it out against MTSU but he knows more about the qbs than me so hopefully the experience will help Worley find his groove.

I disagree. He picked Worley; I just thought they were asking him to do too much last night. Dial the game plan back; give him easier reads and let's improve him. We know what Simms is capable of; I'm sure Worley is capable of being better than he was last night.

Unless you have 2 QBs who bring something unique to the table (Ex: one being mobile, one being a pocket passer) then rotating them is usually a bad idea. It really disrupts team chemistry and players may start playing favorites.
