Seriously, this offensive scheme is stupid. Every other play is Worley hand off to Lane/Neal up the middle and Worley fakes like he might keep it as he runs to the side. Has anyone actually seen Worley keep the ball?! This is a 0.5yd gain 9 times out of 10; if we don't have a QB that can even scramble whyyyyyy do we keep running this play. Why not some play action and short dump off passes, since Worley can't throw down field.

Yeah your right, the read opt offense doesn't really work if your qb doesn't use the option to run. It looks like usa's de's aren't even worried about him taking the run. He might gain a few yards if he pulls it down and runs.

Gotta admit I was thinking of how Worley never keeps it either. Then he did for a first. Then he hit a player in stride. So I pinched myself and didn't wake up.

Lol my foot is lovely right now. But seriously, how often does he actually keep it? I'm glad to see him keep it. You see it actually works when the QB does.

If Worley keeps it, there is zero chance of him throwing an incomplete pass, therefore becoming an automatic boost to our offense.

Don't be ashamed of your statement. It's S. Alabama man. Worley has yet to do anything out of the read option against a really good football team. I am, however, very excited about Jo. Smith, North, and our young guys on defense.

Is smith a walk-on?

He will get another chance next week.

He just kept it... for 10 yds

I noticed this. May not be "elusive," but he had some N-S giddyup. I hope this told the coaches two things:

1) IF they continue to run the read option, he should actually keep it on occasion so that this possibility exists in the D's mind.

I saw another couple that he handed to the RB that if he kept, he'd have had wide open spaces.

2) That if they actually add a normal handoff to their repertoire (gasp! one-handed handoff), this adds another complexity: is this a handoff to the RB, or play-action?

Then we have read option QB keep, read option RB keep, normal handoff RB keep (a la traditional UT RB type play; Lewis, Stephens, Houston, Henry, etc), normal handoff QB play-action pass (a la Manning, Clausen, Ainge, Bray...)
