ok.... so i grew up in the days of shuler manning and tee martin i cryed w/ losses and stood two inches from the tv in the close ones.... at times it felt like i could will us to a win... and at times it felt like we were invincible

In the era i grew up there was nothing more passionate than tennessee football... The Big Orange was intimidating to opponents... Al Wilson, Peyton, Leonard Little, Henry, Stephens, Lewis, Fleming, Deon Grant, the Manning bootleg vs. Alabama, the Jeff Hall fg for the win, the Price Catch down the sideline, the turning back of the Tide and much more...

Now its all gone and i seriously have a hard time grasping it.... It doesn't seem possible with wat i grew up with... and my questions are as follows cuz i seriously don't know the answers...

1. How do you let a Tennessee figurehead like Fulmer go gracefully.

2. How do you recover in terms of personel because we are already seeing wat it does to recruiting (Nunes).

3. Fla, GA, Alabama, LSU are all playing lights out not to metion they have great coaches and even better recruiting.

4. And last, how do you do wat our fans have done lately.... boo players off the field(Stocker)... lose the passion so easily and condemn the program... i couldn't do it if we were as bad as Vandy has been... look how the GA fans stayed down 31-0....

I'm sorry you guys answer these questions for me because i truthfully don't know

I just think personally..if you don't want the fans to boo, you have to be smart and try to keep them happy. That won't happen because our opinions and our money isn't what's keeping the situation where it is. The fact that we're booing now has to say something because we normally don't. Vol fans hardly ever boo just because we lose or someone plays bad...the UGA fans arent going to boo because they dont ALWAYS play like this. We boo now, because we're playing like a team that isnt any of the things you mentioned anymore...the fans know it and are sick of it, but no one that counts is listening.

5 years ago my Residency program, USF, was a backyard scrap team. They are about to crack the top-10 (again) and we are the laughing stock of the country, now.

"Upside down?" Yep. That about sums it up.

Georgia hasn't exacltly been bad the past few years... and come on now Vandy fans don't boo their players off the field... i'm not even talking about the coaching..

I was at the UAB game and we won 35-3, but at least 30,000 fans booed Stocker cuz he dropped 3 passes.... i can understand some dismay with play calling but they seriously booed a young man who plays hard for our team its piss poor fanhood in my opinion

I can't debate the boo/non-boo thing anymore...I think that well's run dry. My point was, vol fans don't just boo b/c we lose or b/c we drop passes. The fans are just sick of it...and if the high-ups don't like it, they might need to listen to us for ONCE. Crompton already said he didn't mind it when the fans booed, b/c they play as a family for each other or whatever...so take that for what it's worth. I'll go on record again saying I don't boo ever...but I think we stink right now. AND IT's ALL FIXABLE

I agree with Etown. Tennessee fans don't always boo, but when the team plays this bad, you have to expect it. Plus booing happens when things are bad AND no one that CAN do anything DOES anything to change it.

Thats what I mean...look back at our 11-1, 10-2 seasons...not much booing when we lose I'd say. It's not that we're losing, its how and why we're losing

wat about when we lost to FLA 7 in a row i didn't hear much booing then.... like i mean it didn't impress any of the recruits we had there we already lost one of our biggest recruits we're in a downward spiral right now...

1. At the end of the year, you tell him you appreciate what he has done for the University, Knoxville, and a lot of young men, but it's time to go. You ask him to step down and hope it keeps his legacy intact.

2. You start looking and figuring out what to do now. Don't wait until the end of December. I think the best thing to do is to pay a head hunter corporation (like we did for Pearl) and see what they come up with.

3. Not sure there was a question there, but regardless, with the aforementioned names, we have no shot at being competitive for the SEC championship for some number of years at this rate.

4. I never boo. Booing is trashy. I can't stand Fulmer, but I refuse to boo. Besides booing does nothing but make the university and fans look bad. There are other ways to show your disapproval.

Phil Fulmer has become so toxic, he is poisoning the team as well as the fans. I see little hope for redemption. The players are pressing, the coaches are lost, and the fans have turned hostile. This program is headed rapidly toward oblivion unless something is done in the near future. I can't possibly see how Fulmer can, with a full conscience, remain after this year. Surely, if he cares for the school as much as he obviously does, he will retire before he runs the program completely into the ground.

i definately agree with your point of view more than anyone else i have seen on here today....

i mean alabama turned it around really quick... and Tennessee with our facilities, being in the SEC, and the biggest recruiting budget in the nation it is a VERY attractive job

I may be wrong, and I hope I am, but at $39,000 a week, Fulmer isn't leaving...

He's wealthy already, and will be rewarded with a buyout. Does he not realize how reviled he will be for years to come if the program continues to decline?

It's like I've said before. He's made multiple lifetimes of earnings. At this point, my respect and dignity would matter more if I were in his position.

There are a ton of threads on here debating that very issue. I couldn't care less. With the money UT has, the facilities, the fan base, the prestige, the history....it shouldn't be hard to get anyone. Just like the basketball program; everything was in place except a coach.

In '96 vs. Florida, we went down 35-0, and I stayed the whole time. Of course we were a top 10 program with an amazing quarterback back then. Kind of like Georgia is now. It is a lot easier to be a UGA fan than a Vol fan these day. They have faith that Richt can pull his team out of those situations, and they never gave up and almost did. Our fans have lost faith in Fulmer, and I think some of the players may have too.
