This is why soccer isn't big in the US. Short attention spans and the need for a ton of action in sports.

I don't know what yall are talking about. Other than the 2nd game yesterday, they've all been exciting. Our game was intense. Messi was fun to watch. As was Gi Dos Santos. (Even tho I hate him)

Yeh I should have said you (OP). Its been great, imo. I was glued to the TV for our match. 30 min late for work. Said "eh, screw it, its the WORLD CUP!!"

it's always great when people watch every 4 years and make a judgment on soccer. It's ok some just aren't meant to understand it

Some people also don't understand how much activity soccer players go through in a match. I heard at one point an average soccer player runs 8 miles a match. Ridiculous

Never been a fan of the sport. Individuals that transcend the sport and there above average play has however, been a life long interest.

Does any club make passing and dribbling look easier than the Argentinians? Geez, they are silly-skilled. Tevez and Messi, among others.

i absolutely hate that so many people have this attitude in our country. just because soccer is different from the sports that are big here in the U.S and it isn't all about back and forth scoring they automatically feel the need to bash it. it's unbelievably sad.

Aggravating as hell. . .

I know quite a few people that I've helped get into soccer. All they had to do is sit down, learn the rules, play, or watch a couple of games. Some become big fans, others not so much - but at the very least, they understand why it's a very popular sport.

Especially on a forum in which the team everyone supports is a member of the SEC - which is primarily known for having good defensive football.

it's amazing how many fail to understand how much energy is demanded for a single match, or half even. as much as i love football, basketball, and baseball i'll argue with anybody that soccer players put up with some of the most demanding tests of stamina and endurance associated with sports.

there are honestly people in this country that think so little of the sport that they would be willing to say that they could step foot on a soccer pitch tomorrow and be a professional soccer player if they wanted to.

I wonder if someone like Labron James or Adrian Peterson could practice soccer for a year and not only start on the USA Team, but dominate?

Hell, maybe even Eric Berry

The short attention span and need of non-stop action argument doesn't hold up. Otherwise, baseball wouldn't be such a huge sport here.

Personally, I thought today's match was awesome and enjoyed every second of it. Howard was a beast.

we went to a bar during the game yesterday and i was the only one watching the game in the whole damn bar. the only way to drum up any legit interest in U.S. soccer is for the team to do well in the World Cup and the Olympics on a consistent basis. i thought soccer was gonna blow up after the 94 World Cup, but it didnt.

Calm down, girls! But, seriously, go to any mall in the South and ask a hundred people to name just one soccer player in the whole world......and you might get one or two people to name Victoria Beckham's husband!

I think soccer is great for elementary, junior high and high school. It gives the runts, too short to play BB and too small to play football (the real football), a sport to play.:)

Kind of like that UK goalie yesterday? That will go down as the biggest garbage goal of all time. You are out of your mind if you dont think someone like Labron could practice for a year or two, throw on some gloves and cover the goal better than that clown from the UK. EB wouldnt play for his own HS? If that was the case, as a Georgia tax payer, I would personally petition the coach to be fired.

So you are telling me that Landon Donovan is the best athlete in the USA because he can run up and down a field for 90 minutes?

What about that USA goalie a few years back? The jets gave him a tryout as a punter and he couldnt even do that.
