I have masters plus, and own 2 businesses. I deal with enough people to know what I said is not the exception, but the rule. For the last 10 to 15 years, when you hire someone they want to tell you when they can work, rather than ask when they will be required to work etc. If you have the experience dealing with people that I have, you won't disagree.
I'm willing to bet that Fulmer would give this years salary back, if would help win 12 games. I'll Guarantee it hurts him worse to lose than any of the wannabe coaches on these boards.

So your 2 businesses have interviewed/ employed all of the generation you speak of. Just because a majority of the people you meet are like that doesn't mean everyone is. Don't lump me into a class that "doesn't work" for what they want.
Hmmm. That's funny, I'm 25 and am part owner of a company and don't remember anybody giving me anything to get this thing off the ground. Maybe you should not assume about something you only FEEL like you know everything about.
That's great, that only means you are the exception. I commend you for your hard work, there are exceptions to every rule. Some of these guys defensiveness and name calling only prove my point further about the general attitude of the younger generation. My original post simply stated that I feel bad for Fulmer, losing something he has poured his life into. My feeling is that any real Vol fan would feel bad for the entire situation rather than revel in it. That's not to say I think we should continue with Fulmer, just that I feel badly about the whole mess.
Triton, I work for an Engineering firm that is full of guys in their 20's and early 30's. Most everyone here has busted their butt to get where they are. I, along with many other people I know, worked 40 hour weeks to put themselves through school. Putting a stereotype on a whole generation is ignorant. I am not saying that there are not plenty of people in my generation that are lazy and think that they deserve what they have not earned; however, I do not appreciate being put into this stereotype. There are many many people in my generation that work just as hard as you do/did. I know my grand-parents thought my Dad's generation had it so easy compared to them. And you know what... they were right. My grand-parents grew up in the Great Depression, times were hard. That does not take away from the fact that my Dad had to work his way through school. Nor does it take away from the fact that I had to work my way through school. And per your original post, you were the one that original brought up the age discussion.
Dayton was simply stating that he will not feel sorry for Fulmer because he is paid a ridiculous amount of money to win football games. He has not done that and still gets a handsome check. Do you feel sorry for the CEOs of AIG and BearStearns that lost their jobs but still got a fat check? I wouldn't think so. They didn't do their job either. College football is a business, and the HC is the president. If the CEO and the stock holders don't think he is doing his job, they have every right to fire him, and no one should feel sorry for him when he retires to his million dollar home.

Triton, if you worked where I do, you'd probably have a pretty poor perception of your generation. I don't care if the guys you interview feel entitled. Don't hire them. There's plenty of guys the same age that will bust their tails.

If you don't fit the description, then don't take offense, each person should know whether I was talking about them or not. I understand that everyone isn't the same, but I also know that I used to hire High school kids that would work from age 16 until they left for college, and some would commute and work through college. Now I have to hire 5 to 8 before I get one that stays. Bottom line, if it don't apply to you, then don't take offense to it.
