Watching that incredible spectacle last night including the anthem and pregame and postgame, I was wondering what kind of effect that might have on kids and high school players that might have not even ever considered going to UT. I mean that was closer to a Super Bowl type atmosphere than any college game I have ever seen, even the NC game. Not that any future games are scheduled at Bristol but I can't help thinking that last night made a lot of future Vols that we might not have ever had. I mean even a 7 or 8 year old on the other side of the country might be dreaming of being part of a program like that. Even Saban isn't able to put you in front of 157,000 people.

Not if they're a wr. Or a qb.

I am thinking we should schedule a BoB once every 4 years. Then a recruit knows that if they come to UT they are going to get to play on the biggest stage on the planet once in their career. It would be like the Olympics or World cup in that it wouldn't be too frequent to get routine but frequent enough that a kid knows he gets that chance once in his career. No other school could offer anything close in terms of scale. And yes, wins against our SEC rivals would increase the draw exponentially.

Well...you can't say "if you come to Tennessee...you get to play in the B@B" anymore...

Hopefully...Smith and other O-line recruits want to come help? 'Cause the Tennessee O-Line SUCKS!

It shows recruits that UT thinks big. We schedule top OOC opponents and welcome playing on a big stage. We have played home-and-homes with Oregon and Oklahoma, plus the B@B in the last 5 years. We've won the Taxslayer and Outback bowls. While our performance hasn't always been impressive, the opportunities for exposure that we offer recruits has to be appealing.

I like the thought of it being an every 4 year game. Maybe even every 3 for the juniors leaving early.

My question would be who would you play every 3 years there? VT every time?

I think fans put way too much emphasis on gimmicky games like this as recruiting tools. Realistically now that the game has been played, why would any recruit look at that as a factor? At least the recruits in the next 4-5 year window I mean. Our schedule is set through 2020 pretty much. There will not be another event like this for at least 5-6 years and most likely longer than that.

Besides, at the end of the day what matters most is winning games against meaningful opponents and championships. This notion that we have a step-up on Saban now because of one game where a lot of people attended is ridiculous. Dispel that notion. Saban puts numerous players in the league every year, and has essentially guaranteed recruits that if you come to Alabama you will win a National title once every 3 years, guaranteed.

We need to focus on beating Florida, Georgia, and Alabama and the rest will take care of itself. Also, a good passing attack next year is vital as well. If we get a new QB and still cannot throw the ball in DeBord's system then we will be hard pressed to continue to get top-WR prospects to come.
