Woke

Marcus, the World you a fear about, and I say a fear - bc I do think Fox News, et al base much of their news on half truths, with fear mongering at its core. The World you fear or see as far from afield is just the World. Most folks in America are centrists, its the far minority rights and lefts that try to pull us out to fringes.

Rump would have been an alt left liberal had it given him attention, money, and power. Conversely, Chuck Shumer would have been an alt righter if it gave him ..: money, and power.

I do think that Americans are essentially split down the middle. 2016 you're talking about less than 2.5 Million votes difference.

Which is crazy to me considering how qualified Hillary was. She was so unpopular yet Trump beat her. It really hasnt been until the 2024 election that Americans showed up for Red.

When I ask my conservative friends why they voted for Rump, not a single person says 'its bc he's a good President, or human being.' Its always, 'well, Kamala was a joke.'

Point being I think the Country shows it isnt ready for a female President. I think the Country ideally, fundamentally believes in rights to privacy, right to bear arms, paths to citizenship, strong US Economy, strong defense, and backing Israel. I think average persons fundamentally understand men hold competitive advantages over women, ergo common sense. Think people understand that children need protections. That big business in the USA is held in too high a regard, and if you break the law you will pay. That big pharma was responsible for getting an entire generation hooked on a drug. And lastly, that empathy, and basic human decency further common sense are worth more than ever.

We are the only major developed country that I know of with no third major party.

Why, when I you and other super conservatives talk is it always about politics? Why do we need to only have two identities? Why do we have to choose between a turd (Biden) and a Giant Douche? (Rump)

Got off topic there. Hope the best for the Country. But every moment of every day isnt about politics. The in fighting, labelling, etc is old hat, and tiring. Just do the best you can do and be the best version of yourself you can be.
Hillary is a crook and isn't qualified to eipe my ass.

I bolded the area that was extreme. You cited the USA is NOT ready to elect a female President. I disagree, I just don't think they have had a qualified female candidate.

I do think Tulsi Gabbard was one that could have a chance and possibly do a great job at it but I think she has tied herself too much to MAGA right now to win the middle ground and left.

Both those women lost to Donald Trump, who is the most unqualified presidential candidate who has ever existed.

Looks like the gravy train is coming to an end. I expect the CEO will be grilled at the steakholder meeting in which the marketing department will have egg on their faces. The ignoramus who came up with this idea is going to get their just desserts and will also be battered at said meeting.

This 100%. I have noticed a decline in food quality, servings, and service over last 4-5 years. I think it likely has something to do with the COVID-19 challenge and finding good cooks/servers. It can be hit-or-miss as you sometimes are able to get great service still if you go in the right store. I tend to find that the Cracker Barrells in smaller towns tend to be higher quality.

COVID-19 messed up a lot of the chain restaurants. The shutdown period hurt them financially and I think their employee training and workforces haven't been as strong which has impacted the overall experience.

I never understood the addition of alcohol as well (and that may have played a part as it could have limited the workforce). You go to places like Buffalo Wild Wings to drink beer but not Cracker Barrell. It just isn't a part of the experience you look for at Cracker Barrell.

We have an actual expert in that field, I believe its @volfanhill. Operates a bunch of chain restaurants IIRC

"They span six categories — from “therapy speak” to “explaining away crime” — and put in sharp relief a party that authors say makes Democrats “sound like the extreme, divisive, elitist, and obfuscatory, enforcers of wokeness.” In the document, titled “Was It Something I Said?” Third Way argues that to “please the few, we have alienated the many — especially on culture issues, where our language sounds superior, haughty and arrogant,” according to the memo.

Among the blacklisted terms: privilege … violence (as in “environmental violence”) … dialoguing … triggering … othering … microaggression … holding space … body shaming … subverting norms … systems of oppression … cultural appropriation … Overton window … existential threat to [the climate, democracy, economy] … radical transparency … stakeholders … the unhoused … food insecurity … housing insecurity … person who immigrated … birthing person … cisgender … deadnaming … heteronormative … patriarchy … LGBTQIA+ … BIPOC … allyship … incarcerated people … involuntary confinement.

“We are doing our best to get Democrats to talk like normal people and stop talking like they’re leading a seminar at Antioch,” says Matt Bennett, Third Way’s executive vice president of public affairs. "

In other words stop your cultish behavior.

And drop a couple of F-bombs every chance you get…

At first, I thought this was just plain dumb, but when I read it the second time I realized it was purty smart and bordered on genius. Uncle Hershel would be proud.

Exactly. And customers. And eventually employees.

Doesn’t matter about your politics or views here. She should be fired for her screw up here. How can you be so misaligned with shareholders and the customers you serve?
Perhaps her mandate was to secure the future. That being said a gradual approach would have probably been best.

Young (ish) CEO's and executives often do things like this to make a name for themselves, make a big splash. It remains to be seen if she will succeed, but she's getting drug in the early returns.

I personally don't think it's going to work out, alienated their core demographic and basically told them we don't need/want you.

It was a dumpster fire already but like you said she alienated what was left of their customers.

I don't really think lack of customers was an issue. Every time I have been they were busy, more their bottom line may have been another issue. Tweaking some things was likely in order. But this comes off as attempting to treat two blown out knees with a full facelift, some cheek implants and a tummy tuck.

The young customer thing is laughable because a lot of the youth in the core areas were Cracker Barrel is located voted conservative. The you cultural trend they were going after is places like NYC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles but you wouldn't capture that youth no matter what you did. Young people based in the Southeast and Midwest aren't going to like the rebrand.
