Woke

Can somebody save me the time scouring the comments for an answer and tell me what's woke about the CB rebrand?

The last time I went to a CB was in Alabama, the food was terrible, and there were 200 men, women, and children there and 190 of them were obese.
I don’t know much about it, but I think you answered your own question. Instead of making a better product, they chose rebranding.

Marcus, the World you a fear about, and I say a fear - bc I do think Fox News, et al base much of their news on half truths, with fear mongering at its core. The World you fear or see as far from afield is just the World. Most folks in America are centrists, its the far minority rights and lefts that try to pull us out to fringes.

Rump would have been an alt left liberal had it given him attention, money, and power. Conversely, Chuck Shumer would have been an alt righter if it gave him ..: money, and power.

I do think that Americans are essentially split down the middle. 2016 you're talking about less than 2.5 Million votes difference.

Which is crazy to me considering how qualified Hillary was. She was so unpopular yet Trump beat her. It really hasnt been until the 2024 election that Americans showed up for Red.

When I ask my conservative friends why they voted for Rump, not a single person says 'its bc he's a good President, or human being.' Its always, 'well, Kamala was a joke.'

Point being I think the Country shows it isnt ready for a female President. I think the Country ideally, fundamentally believes in rights to privacy, right to bear arms, paths to citizenship, strong US Economy, strong defense, and backing Israel. I think average persons fundamentally understand men hold competitive advantages over women, ergo common sense. Think people understand that children need protections. That big business in the USA is held in too high a regard, and if you break the law you will pay. That big pharma was responsible for getting an entire generation hooked on a drug. And lastly, that empathy, and basic human decency further common sense are worth more than ever.

We are the only major developed country that I know of with no third major party.

Why, when I you and other super conservatives talk is it always about politics? Why do we need to only have two identities? Why do we have to choose between a turd (Biden) and a Giant Douche? (Rump)

Got off topic there. Hope the best for the Country. But every moment of every day isnt about politics. The in fighting, labelling, etc is old hat, and tiring. Just do the best you can do and be the best version of yourself you can be.

Good post. Agree with nearly all of it. I dont watch Fox news though or any news on TV for the exact reason you mentioned. None of it is honest or objective. Its all partisan and fearmongering.

The most important thing you said IMO was your last major point. We desperately NEED at least 1 more big political party. A true centrist party with common sense policy would wipe the floor with the current 2 parties. Most people are centrist. I agree. That's why the hard Leftists that have hijacked the Democrat party only have 20% support for their ideas. The Republicans policy is closer to the actual center now than the Dems who have been drug further Left IMO.

personally I don't think its really "woke". thats just the catch phrase people are drawn to now to make it all seem worse than it is.

to me the rebranding doesn't make sense. I don't see how its going to draw in new people with it. they removed the old man, and removed some of the details from the logo. it removes the "feel" of CB. same with the redesign of the stores, its a lot less "actual" old timey, and more modern "farmhouse" bland.

I think Republicans have done a better job of playing politics. They consistently sling mud, and Dems stand there in fetal position. Really havent had a dynamic personality since Barack.

Why haven’t I been invited to these MAGA meetings at the CB? CB reminds of Ruby Tuesday. RT kept changing things around to draw in new customers that they lost the customers that they already had. I’m not a huge fan of CB. I was a much bigger fan of O’Charleys before they started going out of business.

This is an extreme and poor take on the subject. Hillary and Kamala had major flags and it wasn't necessarily because they were female. A solid female leader could get elected.

Yes, 100%. When I drank, used to go sit at the bar at Ochucks and eat their salad, and bread. Ruby Tuesday far better than any of them. Simply just flooded the market.

Funny story. Just visited Denver for a trip. Stayed across from the only RT in Colorado. Place was absolutely packed.

Also, recreational is legal. And its fantastic.

I am kind of lost on how the Logo Change is necessarily Woke but I do think the new logo looks stupid. That won't impact whether I eat at Cracker Barrell or not. What has impacted that over the last two years is a noticeable drop in quality of food and service at times. It isn't 100% bad but it is spotty.

The redesign of the stores hasn't bothered me that much but the old design didn't have any issues. I am in the younger crowd and I frankly don't see how they redesign appeals to younger audience unless they are going for younger people in NYC, San Francisco, or LA who likely won't even go to Cracker Barrells. I will say that Corporate Marketing teams are bad at falling for Social Media trends that appear popular online but are really not that popular with real customers (i.e., they are just loud minorities that are active online).

The logo change won't impact whether I attend or not, even if it looks dumb. I tend to find the more rural Cracker Barrells to be better and it is a great road trip restaurant.

Wait, my take is extreme?

Hillary wasnt well liked. Kamala was perceived as a bumbling idiot.

Hispanic and black female and male voters found no appeal to her. In fact, our friends say the people she surrounded herself were gross (singers parading with asses out), and she didnt do well in the debate.

That said, she was certainly a better prosecutor. Female or male, doesnt matter to me. As a father of two girls ill gladly eat crow. I bet we wont see a woman president in my lifetime.

Thank you for saying this. Where are we as a society that this even registers as a blip on radar. I mean ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I bolded the area that was extreme. You cited the USA is NOT ready to elect a female President. I disagree, I just don't think they have had a qualified female candidate.

I do think Tulsi Gabbard was one that could have a chance and possibly do a great job at it but I think she has tied herself too much to MAGA right now to win the middle ground and left.

R's would say they are laying in the fetal position or that Dems are fighting back super hard? I disagree with either take.
yeah, I am arguing with people about it in the Texas gerrymandering thread, I can't remember which one that is right now.

they are saying they are glad to see the Rs finally, as in that gerrymandering, to fight back. otherwise they have been letting the D's walk all over them.

both of them used perceived victimhood status to justify their own bad behavior.

What in the actual ****??

I don't see it as victimhood to be calling out your own party for laying in the fetal position.

My wife use to work in the corporate office of Ruby Tuesday. RT thought the menu was a big issue. They got rid of several popular items typically chasing whatever popular diet fad that was happening at the time.(Atkins as one example). They even messed with their salad bar which was considered their staple menu item.

This 100%. I have noticed a decline in food quality, servings, and service over last 4-5 years. I think it likely has something to do with the COVID-19 challenge and finding good cooks/servers. It can be hit-or-miss as you sometimes are able to get great service still if you go in the right store. I tend to find that the Cracker Barrells in smaller towns tend to be higher quality.

COVID-19 messed up a lot of the chain restaurants. The shutdown period hurt them financially and I think their employee training and workforces haven't been as strong which has impacted the overall experience.

I never understood the addition of alcohol as well (and that may have played a part as it could have limited the workforce). You go to places like Buffalo Wild Wings to drink beer but not Cracker Barrell. It just isn't a part of the experience you look for at Cracker Barrell.

They can way what they want. I was a salad bar attendant/bar back/server/kitchen staff/dish washer in JC, Bristol, and Mercedes Place. It was alll about money.

When they decided to make everything fresh. Costs went up. Had a great bar crowd, and lunch crowd. Getting too cutesy cost them.

Also Sandy Beal died. That didnt help. Company then tried too many new themes. And just outkicked its coverage.
