Has anyone noticed how the S.A. scours webs sites from one end of the state
to the other for news? Then yackity-yack-yack-yack it up. Cant do their own
thinking I suppose.

I'm exhausted by complaining about the Sports Animal. I prefer to listen now just for a good laugh. Like last week when MD used the phrase "TMI", and prefaced it with, "what's that new phrase that the kids are using so much now..."

I think it's helpful for people that don't spend their entire day scouring websites from one end of the state to the other to have a summary of the news across the state.

You want them to make up stuff instead?

Today's news, from when I listened, was squeezed in between interviews with players from the weekend scrimmage and a live interview from the UT-Martin Head Coach.

the "yackity-yack" you hear is their own thinking for the most part... they have to find out the news some how... what else do you want them to do talk about politics or sum sh!t???

LOL, not surprising. I heard him the other day in reference to whether or not Shaq lives in Maryville say "well, I don't think you can trust what's on Twitter. It's kind of like the internet." Um, Twitter is on the internet. Absolutely clueless.

As much as I poke fun at Hyams, I can handle his and Wilkerson's show in the afternoon and depending on the guest can find it enjoyable.

However, I cannot, cannot, cannot tolerate the morning show.

The Sports Animal = Garbage

The morning show is the worst thing I have ever heard on radio and I refuse to listen to it. Someone should get Heather a Florida hat to wear at practice.

I heard Andy Staples hand Griff his a$$ the other day... that was some freaking good radio!

I'm embarrassed for them when I listen to it. The Sports Page is solid, while Sports 180 is quickly becoming worse. But the bookends of the day's programming take the cake. Just horrid radio.

I enjoy reading complaints about the morning show. Generally they go something like this, "I hate the morning show! Mickey and Heather are idiots! This morning they said....."

I don't partake of things that I hate. I guess that makes me weird.

What was said?

Griffith had been going after Staples for over an hour because Staples is a former walk-on football player at Florida, and in true "King of Beating a Dead Horse" fashion, he was bringing up that Staples was the one that took the infamous picture of the Vol Hostesses at the high school football game.

Griffith accused him of doing it just to hurt Tennessee because he was a Florida grad. He said that if the same situation had Florida involved he would have killed it. Basically, he called into question every ounce of journalistic integrity that Andy Staples has without having him on to defend himself.

Well, somebody tipped of Staples to what had been going on, so he picked up the phone and called in. What happened next was pretty epic. I'll see if I can find the clip, I know Josh Ward tweeted a link a couple of weeks back.

I'd love to listen to this if you can find it.

The morning show is terrible. All they do is argue with each other for the whole show. When they are not disagreeing with each other, MD is talking about how good he is at golf, Jeff is hawking ED herbs, and Heather is acting like she is a "real" journalist. That whole 4 hours is a joke. I am soooo glad for Mike and Mike.

The Sports Animal is horrible sports radio. Honestly, I don't know that the Knoxville market has a diverse enough sports market to have stations entirely devoted to doing sports talk radio. Every show covers the same content. By the time John and Jimmy begin droning on in the afternoon the same 3 topics of the day have been beat to death.

Knoxville is essentially a one trick pony: UT athletics. I don't know that there is enough content to fill 12 hours of sports talk every day without being redundant.

I keep vowing to never listen again, but there are no other options for sports in the morning. Mike and Mike don't even come on until I'm almost at work.
Hyams isn't even as bad as MD, but still, I'm so glad that I'm able to move him to #4 on my dial on the way home. I like to flip back and forth between the new Hooker/Fair show, Finebaum, and whatever is on 106.3. If all three of those are on a commercial, I'll give Hyams my attention.
Though, I do like to listen to WNML on Thursdays when Hubbs is on there. He at least brings info to the show that I didn't already know.
I know this is arbitrary and shouldn't bother me, but MD's poor grammar just kills me. He's a broadcasting professional, and he destroys the english language on a daily basis.
And, it's US Cellular, not US sell-your.

Sports Animal sounds a lot like sports radio in Memphis. And that's saying something because sports radio in Memphis is the worst I have ever heard. Makes my dog barf when I turn it on, so I don't.

That was quality radio. That is called being taken to school.

I thoroughly loved the "I was in the army" card being played.
