Hey everybody!

I've been reading this board for over a year now, but this is my first post.

I recently transferred to Western Kentucky this year and just bought tickets to see the Vols lay a beat down on our football team.

I've been a huge Volunteers fan all my life, but this will be the first UT game I've ever been to. My roommates and I will be making the trip from Bowling Green the Friday before the game, and I was wondering: where is a good place to stay? What is the best way to get to the stadium? And where is a good place to park?

Thanks everyone for your help, and I'll be rootin' for our Tennessee Volunteers to beat my own college! Lol. Should I feel guilty? Nah.

Anywhere west is good. You'll pay a premium for staying on campus, so I'd suggest staying out around the Cedar Bluff Area. Just google it and look at a map of the hotels. Cedar Bluff is exit 378 off of I-40. I assume you will come in on I-40, so this is on your way anyway.

Also, the further you get, the cheaper it gets. Lovell Rd has a few as well (exit 376).

Here's my question. I know WKU are the hilltoppers, but exactly what the hell is that mascot?

But to answer your question, the Hampton Inn downtown is really nice if you can get a room. If not, there's the Hilton right there too. Both are easy walking distance to the stadium and right in the center of the nightlife

My mother stayed at the Country Inn and Suites off Cedar Bluff last week and said she was really impressed with the quality v. price.

Well, Big Red is....just a big red Blob. That's pretty much it. This is my first semester at Western (I transferred from a small Christian college in West TN), so I don't really know a whole lot about the school's traditions quite yet.

If you are of drinking age and in your lower 20's, the best spots are on the strip (Cumberland Ave). The Roaming Gnome, Half Barrel, Hannah's, and OCI (Old College Inn) are probably the more popular ones. The Old City is pretty cool as well with Barley's Tap Room. As far as eating, there is Calhoun's on the River and Downtown Grille and Brewry on Gay St. Hope you have a good time!

don't worry about finding a place...just see where the night takes you and end up crashing somewhere in the fort.

I'm a WKU alum myself and will definately be cheering for my Vols. I get a lot of crap from people up here in Bowling Green about being a UT fan, but I always tell them that I was a Western Student for 4 years, but a Vol fan since birth!

First post!

I go to school in Martin, TN. When we go to games we stay in Kingston area, about 30-45 mins outside of knoxville(West).
