I’m just reporting what Clay Travis is reporting. He said he has sources that say Jason Witten (who is retiring at the end of the year) has said he would leave the Cowboys tomorrow if Tennessee would hire him.

Maybe ridiculous ... but it’s out there.

At least if in a state of desperation, be smart about it. JimBob Cooter would be at least plausible. Desperation is at hand :thud:

I'm going to need Witten to focus on the rest of this season. One more week left in my fantasy football season and then it's the playoffs. I need him to be catching TD's for my team! Lol

So, hiring any former UT player that understands the game and wants to coach is desperation? We were willing to give Gruden the reigns and he's never coached a single snap in college as HC. If we consolidate our resources, we can have a great team again. But one thing is for sure, if the fans keep getting the blowback for refusing to accept the ineptitude of the AD, then it won't matter who's on the coaching staff because the fans will leave.

Hell if that's true I'd hire him. We need a coach that loves the Vols like we do. Witten gets it. Being a football coach ain't rocket science. All you got to do is know when to call a timeout and when to go for it on 4th Down unlike our previous coach

You get to hire 10 assistants with experience and all the details that go along with being a head coach that's what they're there for
