(I have no idea what the boldened refers to as nothing in my post DQ'd Berry for anything. The only number I used was a 10 return minimum, which of course included Berry. I'll chalk that up to a miscommunication and move on)
Well for starters my post was in response to another poster stating Berry being in the top 5 nationally in KOR return average and you what you cite backs up my contention, does it not? And again what you cite is entirely a matter of criteria. If you look at the bottom of the page you reference you'll see the qualifying condition is:
"To qualify, player must have played in 75% of his team's games and have a minimum of 1.2 kickoff returns per game played."
That's actually a lot more arbitrary than the 10 return minimum since someone could be a monster returner and be DQ'd from this list merely by missing too many games from injury. Just to throw it out there why wouldn't Guley's 44.8 average count? He had 4 returns. Korliss Marshall averaged 30.1 YPKR for AR but he's not on your list either. His 9 Returns not enough? Just pointing out how one decides to include/exclude players matters. I thought a 10 return minimum to pretty easy get behind without throwing in % of games played, etc.
And just to be clear Evan has been doing great. The fact he's a Fr only makes it more exciting looking forward.
I had heard on the radio from the RockytopInsider guys that Berry was in the top 5 nationally in terms of avg yds per return. I posted that without checking. For some reason you decided to say that was wrong and you used some arbitrary example about a guy with 1 return for 61 yards to invalidate my post.
So, all I did was a little research, saw that he actually ranks 7th nationally and 2nd in the SEC and compared his 14 returns vs the average return number of the nation's top ten returners, which was 19. Unless Berry had only returned 1 or 4 kicks, I'm not sure what your point is. I don't know what the best/minimum qualifying number is, just wanted to share that the kid is doing a great job compared to the best KORs in the SEC and nation in supporting the idea that neither Devrin nor anybody else should be returning kicks for us.
Hey he got a free ride to play in the sec and a degree, he did his job. As far as a football player he should be playing at Carson Newman. Any ut fan with eyes will say he's nowhere near division 1 talent.
Dbag post. Period. Devrin would drag you...even with broken ribs. Kid gave his all for the Vols. Bet he is far more successful in life than you will be...hes got determination and grit.Devrin young? LOL WHO? 4 year waste of a scholarship Devrin? Get outa here, play your athletes butch. Not a guy who made a career of running out of bounds at the 15.
DY is 3rd all time KO returns for UT. I think behind Willie Gault and Terry Fair.
Devrin young returned how many kick offs for touchdowns? 0. And we all know how many times we got scored on so he had chances. He returned 0 punts either. Please do not mention him with ut legends ever again. He wore a jersey and worked out for 4 years. thats all he did. I think he's a great kid and a hard worker but he's not an sec player and shouldn't touch the field anymore for ut. He had every chance in the world to contribute and he chose to run out of bounds every kick and fumble multiple times.
If I see Devrin young return the opening kickoff I'm turning the game off. He's just not a good kick returner. He's a decent change of pace RB and a fair slot receiver but he's painful to watch on special teams.
The level of **** you're full of is astounding. He gave his all for Tennessee and contributed. If he wasn't worthy of a scholarship he wouldn't have seen the field.
