With our new recruits coming in it seems that we can effectively run the three four. The vols now have Tuttle Mckenzie Barnett and Hendrix.... Maggit, Bates, Bryant, Cherry, Walker (maybe), Taylor, Sapp (maybe)..... I would confident in there ability... But truthfully it just sounds like a good defense regardless... And we have some defensive lineman that are good that I haven't even mentioned.... Thoughts?

4-3 with the tackles that are coming in. 4-3 > 3-4 all day. Kinda sick about the obsession with the 3-4 non stop talk

No. Why would you go from a 4 dl scheme to 3 dl scheme when you just hauled in one of the best classes of des and dts?

I envision getting pressure on the qb with just the front 4 in the future. This allows you to play games on the back end. You can bring the heat or drop back in tight coverage and let the big dogs eat. I envision em being hungry for the next 4 years!

Again agree with you... 4-3>3-4 I just wanted to know what people thought about it had to reel people in some way.

the DE's would be the hardest position to recruit IMO...Barnett and Butcher could play it in a 3-4,but thats not a lot of depth...but we have some perfect DE's in the last class and this years class of recruits for a 4-3,and a bunch of them...

but we are running a bunch of hybrid that mixes alignments of 3-4 and 4-3...this is the way the game is moving toward

We don't have them till they ink the paperwork in Feb. 2015.

I'm pretty sure Mckenzie and Tuttle and goin anywhere... I'm not saying we run that as our primary defense but it does seem as if they will try to incorporate the 3-4 a little more if not in 2015 then 2016 atleast against a Oklahoma or run and gun team? ... Right?

That's what made me think about it... The more the quick offenses erupt the more I think we see a lot of hybrids and 3-4's

When we last ran the 3-4, with the DC who came from bama, we had arguably one of the worst defenses in UT history. Let's stick with what we've almost always run, the 4-3.
