As some stated earlier, if he truly ends up making that kind of money it will all but end the relative parody in college football. Many coaches like Saban, Meyer, Miles, Stoops, Dantonio, Malzahn, etc. will see a raise relatively quickly. This will drive up the price for up and coming coaches or coaches with limited success like Jones which is what you have already seen with his raise. Secondary effects will occur over the next few years: increased ticket and merchandise prices, higher salaries for assistant coaches, and more importantly increased support for paying athletes. Only about 25-30 colleges and universities will be able to compete in that kind of market, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the NCAA try to implement some sort of coaching salary cap.
If Harbaugh goes to Michigan, then let's see if Urban develops yet another mysterious illnesss, steps down for a year or two, then finds another conference where he can win without much competition.
If the $8 mil is true, adding in Sabans raise, this is starting a trend that could end parody across the board.

The two situations are nothing close to being comparable..... You have lost what little sense you had left. You people have not followed recruiting very long if you think recruits are just going to pile up simply because Harbaugh is headed to Michigan. Look no further than UF for comparison and yes UF did not hire Harbaugh but a good coach. The class he walked into was a very small class and has had a little trouble adding to it. Why? Relationships, it is and has always been about relationships in recruiting. Harbaugh is walking into a similar situation, a very small class but not only that a state with far less talent than Florida. He will build good classes at UM just not this year as will UF.
