With Harbaugh headed to Michigan...

Main thing his signing with UM means IMO is that the cost of HC's in college jumps by 1.5 million more than today. Thanks owner of Dolphins who it is rumored is the $$$$ behind UM having the $$$$ to spend so extravagantly.

I said it before, I see this actually happening but I doubt he stays longer than he has too. He will try to turn it around as fast as possible while distancing himself from all the current rumors. If he succeeds he can sit at UM and wait for a good to great NFL job to open and have more leverage to get the control he currently wants.

As some stated earlier, if he truly ends up making that kind of money it will all but end the relative parody in college football. Many coaches like Saban, Meyer, Miles, Stoops, Dantonio, Malzahn, etc. will see a raise relatively quickly. This will drive up the price for up and coming coaches or coaches with limited success like Jones which is what you have already seen with his raise. Secondary effects will occur over the next few years: increased ticket and merchandise prices, higher salaries for assistant coaches, and more importantly increased support for paying athletes. Only about 25-30 colleges and universities will be able to compete in that kind of market, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the NCAA try to implement some sort of coaching salary cap.

If any of what you're saying is true, then Hart's looking like a bo$$ @ right now.

If he's leaving San Francisco, can we steal some of their recruits?

Yeah maybe this time the head coach of Tennessee will give Patrick Willis a scolly. Because the last one when Patrick came out of high school didn't. He is a all pro LB. :)

If you were looking to get a coordinator position at UM, what would expect as a salary if the head coach were making 8 million per year? I wouldn't expect anything less than 1 million dollars and as a position coach I would expect around 500k. As a coach, would you be highly motivated to work for a coach that is making 8 million while you work just as hard making 200k? That kind of head coaching salary will lead to massive increases in assistant salaries.

He has not took the job!!! The raiders are very much in the hunt!!

Uh no they're not. Both John Clayton and Bruce Feldman have said within the last hour that Harbaugh is 100% to Michigan. That's in addition to the multiple reports last night and this morning.

If Harbaugh goes to Michigan, then let's see if Urban develops yet another mysterious illnesss, steps down for a year or two, then finds another conference where he can win without much competition.

Urb is in the right conference. Given who's in that league, the absolute floor and worst case scenario season is 9-3 imo. Not saying he won't "replicate his efforts" like when he wanted out of Florida, but I can't imagine him trying to find a worst conference than the Big10.....he would no longer be remotely relevant.

It will probably tough to land John Kelly at RB out of Michigan if this happens and they make him a priority.

If the $8 mil is true, adding in Sabans raise, this is starting a trend that could end parody across the board.

So you think the hire of Jim Harbaugh will cause Saturday Night Live and South Park to go off the air?

Michigans problem is they have to many talking heads who think they run the program. Another problem I see is JH a huge ass with a even bigger ego getting ready to step into a job with these clowns should be interesting.

I could easily see Kirkland going back to Michigan if Harbaugh comes calling. That was where he wanted to go in the first place. He chose us due to Hoke leaving. Not saying he automatically de-commits but it would not be a big surprise.

Had JH and UM arrived at this (apparent) conclusion just a month ago, recruits such as Kirkland maybe could have been brought back into the fold. The Wolverines will possibly pick up a few recruited-over studs, such as Reid and Cherry et al (not those individuals but similarly talented guys who still aren't solid with anyone). It's not reasonable to think he and whoever he picks up as assistants won't pull in a decent to very good class in '16. This class will be a wash overall, but since it's to be expected, it's my guess that this is a great fit for that school and the BIG overall. As a Tennessee fan first, SEC fan second and a college football fanatic overall, it's nice to see a colorful personality and potentially excellent coach come back into the fray. On this one...way up there in cold country...none of us need to be worrying about who's coaching up there. Once again, it doesn't bother me to see Urban's headaches increase. Let's win the Gator Bowl!

You people have not followed recruiting very long if you think recruits are just going to pile up simply because Harbaugh is headed to Michigan. Look no further than UF for comparison and yes UF did not hire Harbaugh but a good coach. The class he walked into was a very small class and has had a little trouble adding to it. Why? Relationships, it is and has always been about relationships in recruiting. Harbaugh is walking into a similar situation, a very small class but not only that a state with far less talent than Florida. He will build good classes at UM just not this year as will UF.

The two situations are nothing close to being comparable..... You have lost what little sense you had left.

Doesn't Saban have a clause in his contract that makes him the highest paid coach in college football. He gets 100k more than whoever the highest paid is?
