With French and Washington in the portal, I think Heupel should address the issue

They’re all gone. This is the new way. Tell them to move on and let them handle it. Salter is gone too most likely.

With all the hoopla these two kids have generated, is it just possible that heupel let them know that they should look for greener fields to play in. I hope so as that says to me that he is not going to accept that kind of behavior.
So far, despite my impatience, Heupel seems to be committed to a culture of accountability to teammates and he seems to be trying to let players develop as leaders. It'll take time and players buying into the idea of not being knuckleheads not just because coach won't tolerate it but also because they're committed to their work with the team.

I like a strong coach, a no nonsense, firm hand approach, but Heupel seems to actually be taking a "let's build a culture we're all proud of" approach..... not just words, slogans, and BS..... he seems to be willing to play the "long game" of letting hard work grow good things and knuckleheads can rot on the vine. I'm in.

since when did student conduct make decisions on behalf of athletics? seems left hand and right arent jiving.

They are students. Student conduct makes recommendations on students. These also happened to be arhletes.

If SC recommends they be dismissed from school, they cant play ball here.

JH has been waiting for school to complete student review before he doles out punishments. Of course if they leave he wont have anything to do.

They have to be students to be athletes. If Student Conduct kicks them out of school for a semester or two then they are off the team for the same time frame.

Edit: Sorry for the duplication @LWSVOL...you type faster than I do. My kids laugh at me.

They committed an offense in Stokley Hall and were originally detained by campus police, I think. It was an "on campus" offense like any other student getting in trouble on campus.

Get busted in a dorm with weed you may or may not have manhandled from another student in their dorm room and you'll get a Student Conduct Board hearing. It might not go well.

The fact that this occurred on University property is a big complicating factor, the University has legal duties to other students as landlord which it doesn't have in many cases. Also it has the direct law enforcement investigating role which it doesn't always have. They can't be like "well they were charged with misdemeanors only so ignorance is bliss as to anything else that happened", they (UT) know and could be charged with knowledge of every reasonable suspicion about what really happened, regardless of whether the alleged drug dealer victim wants to talk. All that adds up to them having to take this more seriously than if it happened off campus and it was investigated by a non-university police force.

Salter acting this way after the GoFundMe account set up for his father and undoubtedly contributed to by countless Vols...seems like an ungrateful human being.

Now that French and Washington have portaled in the direction of leaving and Salter is more interested in vaping videos and making stupid comments online than hitting the books or weight room, maybe Coach Heupel should address the situation?

No one is "gone" yet but surely Coach has some idea, since the players involved seem to be making decisions.....
I think he says nothing until the investigation is completed and the penalties, if any, have been announced. Anything earlier would be unwise. Ne9ther you or I need to speculate on this matter. Just cool it and get the facts

They literally admitted in the police report that the weed was acquired in connection with the aggravated burglary. We don't always recruit the smartest players.

Seriously? Am I missing blue font here?

It's not 30 for 30 material. Frankly, at this point, nothing short of "everybody run, the homecoming queens gotta a gun...." is going to make anyone care what went on at UT in 2021-2022.

Well, other than us getting torched by everyone because we have zero depth in our secondary.
Or 2010,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18, 19, or 20

Meh. I'm not going to read all the comments, but Volnation is on a need to know basis about how players are disciplined by the coaching staff.

How do we know it hasn't been addressed?

Why would Heupel need to address the situation? To ease your mind? That's not his job.

The internet exists for dumb people to put themselves on camera, and us regular folks to sit back and watch the horror show they create and contemplate human society's ever nearing collapse.

And porn. It exists for porn as well.
One of the funnier (and true) off-season posts I've seen in a while. Well done.

You must have missed Mz. Twerksum's videos. Not horror, not porn.

I think his ability to play the long game is to some extent because he has trust and a longer relationship with the AD. Some have knocked their relationship, but if he worked for Fulmer, Heupel might not be as willing or as able to "do the right thing," and still hope to remain employed.

Heupel is asked about the suspensions in every press event. French and Washington apparently are moving on, make a decision on Salter and Willis and let's move past the distraction..... unless you think having players suspended for a month is somehow helpful to the team?
