you have to think that maybe it is someone who wasn't on our list before. Maybe someone Kiffin likes, or USC likes, maybe USCjr recruited. Here are the likely candidates out of the ProQB that fit into this:

1)Matt Barkley: Had UT and USC listed. Currently committed to USC. Doubt we pull him away, though I'd like to be wrong. I give us a 1% chance.

2)Aaron Murray: Listed USCjr and UT, but currently committed to UGA. Reaves was his recruiter at USCjr. I give us a 25% chance.

3)Tom Savage: Listed UT, but currently committed to Rutgers. I give us a 1% chance.

4)AJ McCarron: listed UT, but currently soft verbal to Bama. I give us a 1% chance.

5)Allen Bridgeford: listed UT, but currently committed to Cal. I give us a 1% chance.

6)Josh Nunes: listed UT, was a commit for us, decommitted and currently committed to Stanford. I give us a 2% chance.

These are the only 4 or 5 stars listed by UT, USC, and USCjr. Not looking great.

Barkley SUCKS

He went 11/31, 36%, 236 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT (2 returned for TDs) in his final game in a 35-38 playoff loss.

Final numbers on the year are...
54%, 2,877 Yards, 22 TDs, 18 INTs

i do not know if boyd has his offer pulled or not? But i feel we still should be honoring the commitment that we made to him when he gave us his verbal. CLK better have a qb that can come in and start from day 1. boyds biggest attribute to me is his poise, i though he could come in and start as a freshman

You're right. Rivals and scout are just way totally off - I have no idea why they'd rank him as a top 10 football prospect. He couldn't even walk-on at UTC.

Yet the kid who sucks so bad is the only Junior ever to win Gatorade National High School Player of the Year. What does that say about every other player in the country?

Also, I think I've read that his numbers had a big dropoff because his offensive line is terrible, and he has no running game to really help him.

He's also the consensus #1 recruit in the country. Lets look at Rivals history with #1s.

Vince Young
Ernie Sims
Adrian Peterson
Derrick Williams
Percy Harvin
Jimmy Clausen
Terrelle Pryor

Dang, seems like they've actually done a pretty good job.

Poise? You honestly think you can judge his
poise in a rivals video?

You may want to add Newsome to that list. We were on his list early, but he now only has BC, Va Tech, Penn State, and Ohio State. Plans to be a midterm and enroll in Jan so we better be moving real fast if its him.

If Boyd wasn't going to fit in Kiffin's system, then Newsome probably won't either.

A.Murray blew out his knee and will be taking a grey shirt

he actually broke either his tibia or fibia and also I believe his ankle. Doctors found that there wasn't as much damage as they expected and he is expected to be back by summer.

Is there any chance he likes one of the current QB's and has his sights set on a TOP prospect in 2010...I have no idea in hell why he would be high on any of our current ones just a thought.

Could be. He might not exactly be fired up about what we have, but maybe sees something that he can manage for a year. Next year's qb class is supposed to be pretty good.

Yes, I think it is a good chance. I think he might make a run after Aaron Murray since UGA has two 4 star qb recruits already, and he holds an offer from UT. If he don't land another QB in this class, I think with a good coaching what we have with the exception of Crompton will be fine.

Hooker claims to know that "a committed quarterback in the South" is being targeted, but at this time he's unwilling/unable to name names.

got a question. why would he tell TB that he wont play here and should go somewhere else, then go sell out and try to get AM when they are pretty much the same style QB?

Because he didn't want Boyd... That was Fulmer's pick..
He told him he'd honor his scholarship but besides that you can't blame him.Coach Kiffin did the honorable thing and let Boyd know that he might be happier at another school. He has a plan..

Let's think about this logically: Kiffin likes tall QB's with strong arms. Aaron Murray is 6'0, shorter than Boyd. X him out. We have heard he is going after a committed SEC QB. X Barkley out. Taking all this into account....

Ryan Mossakowski - Football Recruiting

Zach Mettenberger - Football Recruiting

These two are the best options. Mossakowski would be playing for a bad Kentucky team, and Mettenberger stuck behind Aaron Murray at Georgia. Both are rated in the top 3 of Rivals "Strongest Arm" categories and both are 6'4. It makes sense.

If the SEC QB commit rumors are false, look for him to go after Tom Savage (Rutgers commit). He is another 6'4 QB with a highly rated strong arm, and he considered TN heavily.

I bet its The Moss Man. Gotta dig a QB from Texas and now we could have three(Stephens,Moss, Petty) that all played in about a 30 mile radius of each other!!

The guys listed as 6'4" are are probably around 6'2". High school coaches are notorious for adding a couple of inches to a player's actual height.

BTW, Sam Bradford was a 3-star coming out of high school.
