With Crompton expect a 5 or less win season

I think there are going to be a few SEC teams that are not going to be able to stop our run game, and if we hold up defensively (turnovers/field position playing huge parts) then I don't see any reason why we can't win 7-8 games with those elements of our team playing well. We did those things very well against Florida and we stayed in the game. Am I saying we win all these tough SEC games? No, but we should be in all of them with chances to win, even with Incrompetent.

Crompton sucks plain and simple. Who cares if he bleeds orange, so do I. And I observe the games where he should, on the couch. It is perfect time for a QB change. Let Nick get a game under his belt, take control of the team, and finish out the stretch.

If you couldn't see last year the difference in how those two QB's carried themselves then you should only read on here and not post. Crompton has zero confidence, zero fire, and zero talent. I'm sick and tired of watching his a$$. If he's the QB the rest of the way, I'm done watching this year.

two coaching staffs in a row obviously agree on who is the better qb

I will trust the coaches over a fan watching on tv.

It doesn't sound like you are much of a fan if you aren't going to watch any more games this year.

Get on the Gator bandwagon while you can...

Yes we look more conditioned, we looked more disciplined, our defense is no joke, BUT Crompton looks worse this year then he did last year. If Kiffin keeps starting Crompton then good luck even beating S Carolina. If we can't score then who cares our our D is top notch.

Crompton is getting less and less confident. He looks even more lost then last year. If Crompton is truly better then Stephens then this year is a wash imo.

I love my vols but I don't drink kool-aide. Crompton spells losses everytime.

Oh by the way Gator trolls. I wouldn't get too excited. You guys are in pure future trouble against us. You have UT beat at every position and depth and one player made the difference. Teabow. If UT had any decent qb you guys would of lost on your own home field with 2-3 times more talent then we have not to mention the difference in experience. You guys should of truly whooped the crap out of us pure and simple. You didn't and you couldn't even with the lack of talent we have compared to you guys.

Unfortunately your missing the whole point of this thread. Crompton sucks game time. I don't care what he does in practice. If Crompton is the best we have then expect a long season.

I love the way our team looks on all sides and positions except for qb but the moment we need him I don't expect anything but a loss.

Get real, Crompton can't even beat UCLA at home.

Great point but you missed one huge key. Crompton had 4 years under his belt as compared to Stephens so the drop off should of been greater. Crompton should of been able to take the reigns easy. He sucks therefore we lose. If Stephens truly is worse then expect a long season.

You are quite possibly the most pessimistic "fan" ever...Actually, you shouldnt even be considered a fan. All your posts are extremely negative and that is quite unfortunate for you because you must be a completely friggin miserable person to ooze as much negativity as you do. The Vols are a much better team than they were last year and have a 100,000,000% bettter coaching staff this year. Crompton is not a good quarterback at all, that much has been proven already but CLK and staff are great coaches, we have a great defense, and have some amazing playmakers on offense-This TENNESSEE team WILL win games THIS year and WILL make it to a bowl THIS year and in the years to come they WILL RETURN TO NATIONAL PROMINANCE!!!!

You need to cheer up man and quit being so damned pessimistic...Bandwagon and Fair-weather fans suck!!!

As much as I don't want to agree. I don't want Crompton to be our QB! we played a near perfect game and almost won Coach will have the Vols back!, but with the last Coaching staff left us with bad choices in QB's

I think deep down, we all knew this would be a transition year regardless of the qb play, I agree it is below sub-par, and a bowl bid and victory is not out of the question, but I honestly think that when this ball becomes full force spin the Big Orange are going to be the team to beat in the east and possibly the entire SEC

What? Unfortunaely I don't drink kool-aide. I see the truth from both sides. Crompton looks no better then he did last year. Plain and simple. Yes we are better in all categories except for Crompton and you saw what that netted us last year.

Did you not see Crompton's head held low during the UCLA game. Plainly shows lack of leadership and when he did jump up to have a chance of a game winning drive he netted zero first downs.

I've been watching this year and I see the same thing as last year. A terible excuse for a QB costing UT game after game after game. I can't take it anymore. Anything is better than Crompton under center and if you can't see that or haven't been shown that over the last two years then there is not hope for you. Go look at Cromptons stats and tell me how anything can be worse. What is there to lose? GJ or NR in the wildcat full time would be more effective than our O now.

It's one thing if we actually had a better QB waiting in the wings, but we don't. So, yes, Crompton is no good, but he's what we have, so we must deal with it as fans. What do you want us to do, run the wildcat all game long? :cray:

So let me get this strait, You agree that we are better in all categories from last year except for the QB spot but you still don't see us winning more than 5 games?!? EVERYBODY knows Crompton is an awful QB but if the VOLS are improved in EVERY AREA other than Crompton is would be contadictory to think they will only win 5 games again this year.

While we have a long way to go to get where we need to be I must say that CLK and staff have thus far exceeded my expectations even though our record is 1-2 right now. I see us finishing out the year and suprising some people and I see our staff and players continuing to turn some heads and by the end of the season we will be respected again. It is a DIFFERENT season, with DIFFERENT coaches, and many DIFFERENT players and with all the positive's that CLK has brought to our program and the fire and intensity that our players as a whole play with, we WILL win more than the 5 games you have predicted.

You should go apply to become a College Football Analyst for ESPN, they LOVE hating on the VOLS!!! LoL

Because it appears he is not getting a fair shake due to some alterior motive i.e, recruiting. Kiffing didn't decide on a starter until the last few days, said they were very close. If one isn't carrying practice to the field then yank his a$$ and try something new. What's the worse that could happen?

The worst that could happen is we do something like losing to Ohio. Why change it up when one has been taking significantly more snaps in a new offense for weeks now?
The real question is, why do people like you continue to beg for a QB three offensive coordinators have all viewed as worse than our currently horrendous QB.

hey... he called everyone kool-aid drinkers.
What an original thought.

And yeah, our defense is good enough to win 8 games if we can run the ball effectively on everyone. Stephens probably deserves a chance at some point if only because Crompton seems terrified to throw the ball, but I'll leave it up to the coaches.

So with no passing game we almost beat the #1 team in the country on the road. Logical conclusion=we wont win but 4 games from here on out? That makes total sense....

It is what it is. We suck at QB (Stephens included), but times are changing. I think we win at least 7, but if we only win 5, what does that really matter in the long run? We'll be back where we should be, just have patience.

Not arguing, just adding balance, but we did lose to a fairly bad team, at home. Just goes to show that we could play with some very good teams, but could also lose to some pretty mediocre ones. This is just one of those years when you can expect anything. Who knows, Crompton might turn things around and show some serious improvement, or Stephens could come on and be an adequate quarterback. Personally, I think we could win seven games, eight if we are fortunate.

The Western Kentucky game might have been an unfortunate blow-out. It gave Kiffin false confidence in Crompton and what he could do on the field. Now that that misconception is out of the way, he might be able to change the offense around some to stay within Crompton's ability zone, but still achieve some offensive balance between the run and the pass.

I wouldn't be afraid to bet that we'll be seeing Nu'Keese, Teague, and Jones playing quarterback very soon. We can run the ball fairly well so I'd look for us to start running a little wildcat to make up for our lack of a passing game.

My thoughts exactly. I held out hope for as long as I could for JC, but it is not there. I say turn the keys over to a wildcat formation or triple option and play D. The wins may not be pretty, but the team will avoid beating themselves.

Why do people like you continue to put faith in a dead lame ass duck flying again? If you're not a good QB then you suck as does JC. And it was only two offensive co-ordinators, one of which wasn't able to do his job because of the head coach which everyone says is a dumbass and was through coaching anyway who had a seniority complex about JC getting his turn. Last season the wheels fell off and you can't put that on NS.

Kiffin had no choice but to go with Crompton against UF. NS was behind in terms of practice but it was still "very close" according to the HC. Crompton looks good against WKU but stinks it up against UCLA. You can't start NS against UF in the swamp. But now you can and if Kiffin does not then he's either a dumbass too or worried about effects on recruiting. End of Story!

It must be pretty sad for CLK to have to stucture his offense around an inadequate QB.

Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. It would be very difficult to win against most SEC teams if we cannot throw the ball(or turn into an option team). The only thing that will hurt putting Nick in is Incrompitants ego, and I don't think that can sink much lower. Give Nick a chance dang. If he screws up we are out nothing. How many chances does JC get?

No my friend we need to switch now and let Nick get some reps..short passes to Hardesty and Bryce...nickel and dime our way to the endzone...

How is that any different from what Kiffin has run with Crompton?
