Yes we look more conditioned, we looked more disciplined, our defense is no joke, BUT Crompton looks worse this year then he did last year. If Kiffin keeps starting Crompton then good luck even beating S Carolina. If we can't score then who cares our our D is top notch.

Crompton is getting less and less confident. He looks even more lost then last year. If Crompton is truly better then Stephens then this year is a wash imo.

I love my vols but I don't drink kool-aide. Crompton spells losses everytime.

Oh by the way Gator trolls. I wouldn't get too excited. You guys are in pure future trouble against us. You have UT beat at every position and depth and one player made the difference. Teabow. If UT had any decent qb you guys would of lost on your own home field with 2-3 times more talent then we have not to mention the difference in experience. You guys should of truly whooped the crap out of us pure and simple. You didn't and you couldn't even with the lack of talent we have compared to you guys.

You might not have heard, but Kiffin's MO is to exceed expectations. You can read about it. Been in all the papers.

Booo. Get this negativity out of here. If Tennessee can play at anywhere near the level they played on Saturday, with Crompton simply not LOSING the game for us, then we should still be on pace for 7 or 8 wins IMO.

In case you don't watch any games do you really expect us to win solely on a run game? Crompton sucks period. He had a game winning chance of a drive against UCLA, netted zero first downs. He can't score on the goal line. He missed a wide open Stocker in the end zone against UCLA. Crompton gets worse by the week.

Time for Stephens:rock:

I wouldn't be afraid to bet that we'll be seeing Nu'Keese, Teague, and Jones playing quarterback very soon. We can run the ball fairly well so I'd look for us to start running a little wildcat to make up for our lack of a passing game.

this is in the running for weakest thread of the year. You say Crompton but the QB position as a whole at UT is terrible. We don't have one on the roster that can win games for us (except for everybody's favorite- the backup)

I think long-term kiffin is expecting us to get behind the program and discard throwing players under the bus a la filmer.

Then it sounds like you wouldn't be afraid to lose some money either.

There's some room for argument at other positions but EB certainly blows the better "at every position" argument.

In any case after UCLA the plan became to scheme around Crompton. It damn near worked against the #1 team in the nation. Outside of AL I don't think there's a game on our schedule that isn't outright "winnable" and after Sat I'm not writing that one off yet either. Not to guarantee a victory or anything but the plan is simple. Keep the other team from scoring, limit mistakes and we're in every game.

Yes, we are handcuffed by Crompton. On the other hand we are blessed with a genius at D-coordinator, the nation's top defensive playmaker and a stable of outstanding running backs. I think that gives us a great shot at pulling off one or more unexpected wins. 5 wins is too low imo.

Crompton needs to live in the moment from handing the ball to the four talented running backs we currently have and blocking for them down the field, he has become one the biggest wastes of a scholarship I've witnessed. In his last game speech he needs to thank the school for the free education, which he did not earn through this commitment to the university.

please tell me how he didn't earn his scholarship. There have been plenty of players who got free rides and never saw the field. Is he an all-star? No, but the coach says he gives it everything he has at practice and games and that's good enough for me.

Crompton is not an sec qb, but he is all vol, and he has given his all for the Vols. I love that Kiffin is supporting his players.

I agree. I think even Crompton can get this team to 7 wins (Ohio, Auburn or Georgia (maybe win both, won't lose both), Memphis, Vandy, UK, and I think we upset Bama or Ole Miss).

He should be asked to do just what he did against Florida with maybe a couple deep throws.

I understand setting the expectations low. But we can still be an 80/20 run team and win 5-6 more games...

Ohio, Memphis, USCe, Vandy, Kentucky and possibly Georgia or Auburn.

Crompton actually played well when Kiffin played it close to the vest, particularly the first half. I actually thought he played very well in the first half. I didn't like Kiffin's play calling early in the 3rd, I thought we got away from what we were doing well... but anyway... Crompton can still get us to 7-5 IMO.

I am sorry but I respectively disagree. I do not pretend to know what is wrong with his game, yet with the hype surrounding him when he was recruited I always expected more from him.

Anything is possible, but I think 5 is too low also. These 3 games coming up will tell if your right or not. If we go 1-2 then its likely that we will only have 5 wins. I think it is very possible for us to go 3-0 in this homestand because last year we should have beat Auburn and Georgia.

Unfortunately your missing the whole point of this thread. Crompton sucks game time. I don't care what he does in practice. If Crompton is the best we have then expect a long season.

I love the way our team looks on all sides and positions except for qb but the moment we need him I don't expect anything but a loss.

But there is a difference between being an overhyped player who fails to meet expectations, and being a "waste of a scholarship" as you stated.

But, I also think that positive things are coming for the men in orange, with the passion they played with on Saturday, it would take some kind of pessimist to judge otherwise.

Get real, Crompton can't even beat UCLA at home.

I'm not missing anything. I was responding to another poster who claimed he was a waste of a scholarship. Please keep up
