With B.B. departure from the team now, and with Nukeese's dismissal, what would you rank the class Kiffin brought in for us now?

I know he mentioned he left the program in better shape than it was in before he arrived, but I don’t think that is true now. I was curious what you think of HIS class now…

I think CDD has less to work with than Kiffin did when old Phil left.

GBO and CDD we need some of his magic to make up for the last couple of stumbles that Knoxville has had the last few years…. And get some of our new recruits ready for SEC play.

I agree with you, as you'll see come the NFL draft, kiffen inherited 2 first rd. draft picks, and several other guy's off that team will be in the pros as well, right now, I can't name 1 guy on our current roster that would be a first rd. pick NEXT YEAR, and as far as the recruiting class being ranked, nuke and bb were arguable the 2 biggest names kiffen brought in, as of now, it's pretty much a lost recruiting class, other than JJ at this point

Not sure I completely agree. At least CDD has potential at QB. Lane and company didn't even have potential.

Your point is well made though. It really amazes me what has happened in the last 12 months.

I agree, CDD has his work cut out for him. Stocker is the only one i can think of that could go 1st round next year.

I went to a business workshop yesterday that had Coach Fulmer as a speaker. I had not been the biggest fan of his latter years but I was impressed with his humbleness and the respect that he holds for UT fans. I cracked up at what he referred to Kiffin as a "jacka**". He had a lot of respect for Dooley and thinks he will do a good job. What is the problem between the President, Athletic Director that he speaks of?

If this staff is anywhere near as good as the last staff, they should be able to match the 7 wins posted in '09. Seriously doubt that happens though.

I agree. The biggest thing I will miss out of the last staff was the intensity they brought game in and game out (with the exception to the Ole Miss game)

I hope CDD staff can bring the intensity like the last staff.

But here is hopefully to brighter days ahead for Big Orange. :dance2:

Kiffin at least had some experienced OL and DL's. CDD doesn't have that luxury. As for the former staff, they were coaching for a paycheck. I am holding out hope that these new coaches really give a crap about the University, its traditions and especially the players.

Dooley won't have 2 walk-ons and a newly converted TE on his OL this year...

It was never true. The guy devalued our program and laid waste to every second of work he put towards improving this it by leaving the way he did. Then makes the most asinine comment I've ever heard by saying that.....no.

And FTR, his first class was essentially made by those last minute signee's, Nuke, JJ, Oku, and Brown.

Nuke turned out to be as effective a football player as he was a thief. ---Fail.

After all the hype, Brown, flashed here and there but for the most part left (me) feeling a little disappointed--although he is only a freshman and was playing behind the best back in the SEC. Then after LK's departure, we suddenly hear he's considering a transfer or leaving the program. Looks like he chose the HC over the University, to me. ---Incomplete/borderline fail.

Oku, flashed great hands and versatility out of the backfield and showed the kind of work ethic and attitude that embodies what a true Volunteer should be. ---He's got some work to do, but has the ability to be a great UT RB.

Jackson. The dude can play, flat out. Berry went so far to say that he could end up being even better than him. High praise. Then there's rumors about a run-in at a bar on the strip, a suspension, then an arrest. Turns out he might not have much(?) or anything to do with the robbery as originally suspected and is reinstated, but with some obvious work to do off the field. Then LK leaves and he's one of the guys rumored to want a transfer. I don't know how accurate that may be, but he's still here. Time will tell, but he obviously came here b/c of the efforts of the previous staff. The new staff looks to be vastly different in terms of personality, hopefully they mesh well and he returns to the field an improved player and person. ---outlook is foggy, but promising should he stay and avoid off the field issues.

So....I say this. Look at CLK's first class now. The players he recruited, why they came here, and who remains.

Now, look at CDD's 1st class. At first glance, they look equal...with one major exception. CDD recruited players that wanted to play for the University of Tennessee first. There will inevitably be some losses in this class, whether it will be b/c of academics or otherwise, but they're all committed to UT, not him. This is one of the BIG reasons why I really like CDD.

I still think that Bryce Brown was never the same after that huge welcoming shot he took by the Linebacker Core at TN in one of the first physical practices of last year.

You know the one that welcomed him to the SEC. That slobber knocker.

He also was slowed with a hip later in the year.

I'm just not sure he was ready for life as a tailback in SEC. It is tough!!!

I still think BB will be back. I think he will take some time to evaluate what's best for him and that is to remain at UT. Either that or he may be mad he's not going to receive that fat paycheck coach O promised him.

I think they are both in the same similar boat...

Kiffin did have a little more experience on the O-Line and D-Line..

And DD has more experience and better depth at the Playmaking positions. G.Jones, D. Moore, Stocker, Cooper, Teague, Z Rogers all those guys will be a lot better this year than last...Plus you bring in Milton,Hunter, Rogers, and Meline...Oku will have more carries this year and lookout for Taruen Poole I think this guy is gonna be a diamond in the rough...He has been patient and now its his time to shine...I hope god blesses that kid this year!

Secondary...? Toss up! Yeah Kiffin had Berry and Rogan but Berry was used more like a floating LB instead of secondary player and I think Art Evans,JJ,D.Myles, Anthony Anderson and maybe Eric Gordon..mixed in with a Clark might be about the same!

QB...well lets all hope Nick Stephens has had some serious accuracy help and has improved over the year. He is big which I like since our O-Line is not that experienced, at least Nick can take a hit. But I will tell you this Nick throws the long ball WAY better than Crompton ever thought about throwing it! And last time I checked Crompton did not go off the chart in the accuracy column either so who knows!

I am excited for some FOOTBALL IN TENNESSEE!

With hip and concussion problems coming out of last year, it may in BB's best interest in terms of personal development as a player to sit out a year.

That hip inury concerned me . I thought he got it in h.s.
My hope is what Dooley has inherited plays with a huge chip on their shoulders.
