I'm surprised I havent saw the name Butch Davis (with UNC, and the guy who built the dominant "U" teams in the late 90's/early 00's). He can recruit like nobodies business, and is proven. Look what he has done with UNC in such a short time. You think he would leave there to become a Vol???

Uh....maybe I missed it. I don't get on the board a whole lot, and I just looked through thread titles. Sorry. I wasnt trying to start another whine fest.....just wondering if we have a legitimate shot at him, or would he rather stay in NC and build that team up.

Seriously, the only people I haven't seen mentioned as replacements are the Pope, Joe Torre, and Paris Hilton.

Davis has been mentioned but everyone seems to be on the Kiffin/Muschamp bandwagon for whatever reason...I'd take Butch in a second!

I'd take Butch Davis over Kiffin and Muschamp as a package. The guy is a proven winner, a top notch recruiter, and an excellent coach.

I think we get him if we go after him. He's making $1.5 at UNC. Pay him $3 million. He would be wearing orange.

I wouldn't mind trading Fulmer, Pearl, and Summit for Davis, Williams, and their womens coach.

Not really if you consider W-L's. He's had one good season in his head coaching career. Other than that it's covered with at-best 3 loss seasons and lots of losing years.

But you could also argue that he built the best team in the history of college football.

He took over a Miami program that loss over 30 scholarships from the Erickson era.
