Let's take a look at the offense. Folks, I'm blaming both sides on this one. This falls straight on Jones who should've had the team more prepared. I saw a bad offense in the first half and a horrible defense from the second quarter going forward. Think about it for just a minute, how much of a difference would it have made if the offense didn't go three and out until getting the first 1st down midway through the second quarter (someone correct me if I'm wrong on the timing.) We didn't even have to score that many points up until the time, we just needed a sustainable drive. 6-8 play drives, maybe more, would have made a world of difference on our total yards given up and would have been a lot easier on our defense not being so tired. Don't throw the defense under the bus without looking at the offense as well.

It's easier on my eyes when it's broken up a little.

Our game plan was to outscore them early b/c the triple option is a bad offense when playing from behind. Dropped passes put us behind the 8 ball early. Once our offense started clicking we were scoring fast. Without the dropped passes we would have been up 21-0 at the end of the 1st and this game looks completely different.

IMP. You are being to kind. We were gashed for chunks of yardage. Players were off balance as they were being dusted. The proof in the pudding will be the yards given up against the next quality opponent. This week will tell us nothing. That said , I will be in my seat cheering like we are #1.

Disagree. The offense did pretty well with a new QB in a hostile environment with unproven WRs and a mediocre line. It's amazing that we're able to get the yards they did with as little time they had on the field. 28 points in regulation when you only had the ball 1-2 times a quarter is pretty amazing imo.

That still doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't get a first down until midway through the second quarter. That's after the fact that we had 4 possessions before that and our defense wasn't playing that poorly at the time. I agree that the offense did start to click, but it was much better in the second half. Dormady was 8/20 in the first half, due to a couple of drops and throwing in to double/triple coverage. He seemed to calm down a lot coming out in the second half.

I don't know if it was the gameplan or the dropped passes. Probably a little of both.

Even Jennings didn't look particularly sharp early on. It didn't seem to me like he hustled hard enough to get the 1st down at the end of the second offensive possession that resulted in a 3-and-out.

Exactly my point of why I refuse to throw the D under the bus at this time. You take away just 2 of those 3 and outs and we're probably talking over 100 yards taken off of that total yardage that was given up.

Our second play from scrimmage was a first down.

Yes the dropped passes put a lot of pressure on the D but great defefenses just keep on playing at least in the first half. Our D clearly lacked the speed and tackling needed to match up.

Our receivers have to get better at catching the ball. Jennings was our best possession receiver. I guess Calloway is now. Who else can be counted on to catch that critical 3 down ball?

But of course, you're generally right. We would go four more possessions before we got another 1st down in the 1st half.

Drive 1 - 5 plays (incl. the 1st down above), PUNT.
Drive 2 - 3 and out. PUNT
Drive 3 - 3 and out. PUNT
Drive 4 - 3 and out. PUNT
Drive 5 - 8 plays, 46 yds, TOUCHDOWN
