Considering how bad Dobbs is throwing the ball 20+ yards with any accuracy, would it have been better for the coaches to visit GTech, Navy or Ga Southern over the winter/spring and install it? With the stable of RBs we have and the limitations of Dobbs throwing ability, we could really dominate with that offense. I know it's old school boring, but our personnel would allow us to run it this year. I think Dobbs would flourish in it and then the few passes we would attempt would be right up his alley as they are usually only 10-15 yards at the most routes with the occasional deep pass. We could use Byrd as a RB also or for reverses and take advantage of his skill set.

Still, we are 1-0 and the team goals are still intact.

I think that the offense line shoulders the blame and not Dobb's but time will tell

We probably had Hurd either lined up behind Dobbs under Center or in the Pistol about 10 plays.

No, what do you tell future recruits? The top offensive players in the country dont want to be recruited to run option football. With all due respect that stuff needs to stay at the service academies. I think everyone needs to stop over thinking this and see it for what it is. Tennessee including the coaches came out arrogant and expected App state to lay down. App state kicked Tennessee's a$$ last night but I'm glad it happened and I think when its all said and done you will be to.

Simple, you tell recruits that you're flexible enough as a coach to match your gameplan to the talents of the athletes. Once Dobbs is gone and Dormady or JG take over, change back to the Spread and let them air it out. I wasn't talking forever, I was talking this year only with Dobbs at QB.

I already think it is good for us to have our ass whipped last night. Now they won't take anyone else for granted and truly listen to the one game at a time coach speak.

We did run a single back with Dobbs under center 2-3 times last night and it was very successful. App state coaches knew exactly how to disrupt our offense and it was to just bull rush our center all night. When they got penetration they won, when they didn't we had success on the play. I think app state had enough success early to fluster our offense and then our boys started to panic and try to do too much on each play. App state has a lot of really good football players. The only reason a lot of their guys are at app state instead of a power 5 school is they are 6' instead of 6'3 or 250 instead of 315 lbs. they also used every trick in the book to get an advantage because the knew our guys were bigger and stronger. They used every hand clap, jumping the snap, better leverage, chop block trick they could. Some legal, some not so legal. But what do you expect, they can't line up in an I formation and run straight at us. That is what we should have done.

I liked how our defense made adjustments in the 2nd half, it wasn't perfect, but it was not just more of the same like the past 3 years. Our refusal to diviate on offense has me worried, that and how quickly Dobbs went into to full on panic mode.

I think so too. I predicted a 10 win season knowing that Dobbs was average at best as a passer.

It's not that simple. You can't just decide one day you want to run the wishbone. You have to build your team for that scheme. A wishbone offense doesn't put 3 wr's on the field. So that right there should tell you that we don't have the personnel to run that offense.

Most important, do you know why practically no one runs that offense anymore?

Answer: Because you can't recruit a qb worth a crap to play in that system. So you decide to try that offense for even one season and you can forget about recruiting a decent qb for 2 to 3 years.
