"There were two things I knew could beat Auburn... Monte Kiffin and Hardesty... Because of those two things - I knew it would be a close game.

People still want to believe Meyers in thinking Florida did bad because of the flu - but Monte had them...

UT will have a losing season this year sadly - and it's mostly because they just don't have a QB that's worth anything... I would like to share some of that blame with the WR's because they dropped their share - but maybe they were so surprised the ball was where it needed to be? When you have to be prepared to have the ball within a 15 yd radius - I guess it would surprise me too lol...

Auburn had 2 decent QB's... One was man enough to step aside and let the other do what he was good at - and the other do what he could... We have a team that works and thinks like a team.

UT has no QB... The only thing disturbing that I think I saw was 2 UT players were fighting on the sidelines and had to be separated...

Also, Tubby was good at building a typical Auburn team - just couldn't maximize it's potential. We got a coach who is going to build upon "Auburn" football.

Kiffin has a harder task - he has to take what he has and make it his. You had an awful team last year and a partly awful team this year... I think you have an excellent staff and Kiffin's mouth accomplishes some good things. He has to rebuild more is all... like they are saying - even Saban had a rough first year..."

Bottom line, we just don't have talent. Kiffin can't turn garbage into gold.

Urban Meyer would struggle to win games with UT's roster.

My head can't wrap around the word "wisdom" being associated with "Auburn fan".

Soooo true! I wish Kiffin would just experiment a little at QB! Run more of the Nu-Gun package as well as maybe throw Berry in on offense a little bit. We got to shake things up. With no passing game, we can't have a fully effective running game. So why not try some new things, such as wildcat?!

not many coaches come in after the previous coach was fired and instantly turn the team around with the old coach's players ...........the few that come to mind that have successfully done it however are Terry Bowden at AU, Coker at Miami, and Urban at UF.

Auburn does?

Exactly. We have some talent, but no more than Tennessee. Look back at recruiting rankings for the last 5 years, but more importantly look at how many of those guys are actually on campus. Auburn came into the season with only 75 guys on scholarship....TEN under the maximum. The reason is because we've had 20+ players from the last 3 recruiting classes disappear.

The talent in Auburn and the talent in Tennessee is not much different at all (see both teams 5-7 records last year).

The difference is Chris Todd and Jonathan Crompton. And honestly, what Malzahn has done can not be over stated. Beat a dead horse, I don't care. The fact that he has this offense on track in his first year is nothing short of amazing to me. Our leading receiver had three catches last year....he had three TD catches in one game this year.

It's the coaching on our side, it's the lack of a QB on your side.

Seems like Tony Franklin was amazing at getting his offense in before the bowl game two years ago as well..........I wont be a Malzahn believer until the end of the year if things keep going as they are.

Tell your buddy he writes better articles than Mike Griffin (Griffen.. or is it Griffith?)... anyway, he goes by "Writer32" on the board here.

At least this is more logical and actually makes some sense.

(Griff --- are you taking notes?)

...Nutt at Ole Miss hasn't done TERRIBLY (although they're pretty overrated this year)...

Flip flop Snead and Crompton and you're looking at a Tennessee team that's 4-1 at worst.

...or, y'know.. flip flop Mallet and Crompton and you get the same story.

JMHO.

Auburn's lines were deeper on both sides. They wore us out with fresh body's and a frantic pace. Malzahn is also a hell of a coach, his system works, but call me old fashioned i like a pro style system..

What is said in this post is what has been missed for the last TWO weeks! We have less scholarship players than vandy for goodness sakes!!! We are thinner on defense than I can remember any SEC school (non doormat SEC east teams) being in all my 30 years...The fact some have made us out to be some juggernaut is mind boggling...Auburn has been coached up more than anyone is giving those guys credit for...I won't speak about the other side Saturday night, but I will say that there are a few opinions on here that are dead on...You guys deserve a bit more.

Auburns offense will give everyone fits this season including Bama and LSU. It will be hard to defend. I believe the SEC West will be interesting.
