wireless headset question

Maybe an entry level turtle beach? Does it really have to be wireless? There are a ton of great choices for the 360 that are wired to the controller

I'd hit Amazon and check out their best Sellers and reviews

Most, if not all, need to be at least plugged into the controller for voice chat. The Turtle Beach X41s were a great wireless 7.1 surround sound set for me. $200 at launch. Around $80 now. Maybe X42s as well.

Yeah, I can't think of any 360 headsets that didn't require the voice chat plug. But my X41s were "surround sound" and it changed everything for me. I got them about three months after Modern Warfare 2 came out and my level of success skyrocket. With just stereo, I could only hear left and right, but the X41s let me know every direction players were coming from. It was almost like cheating...

Had a pair of wired Turtle Beach, loved them, then broke them. Thought I'd go wireless on the next ones, got another set of a Turtle Beach and hated them, after I broke those I got a pair of Asto a40's and they're top notch. Hands down the best headset I've ever used.

Once I got the Xbox One and Ps4, I switched to a50s. I like them more than the Turtle Beaches I had besides the overly complicated tuning I have to do to get the voice chat and game sound just right, and I miss using rechargeable batteries instead of charging the headset. Great sound quality though.

Do you have the newest A50s? I've noticed they now have a version for Xbox one and a different version for PS4. I'm wondering if they work on both systems and, if so, which is the better version to purchase? I imagine the PS4 version will work fine on the Xbox One as long as you have the Microsoft headset adapter.

I have pair of A40s that are probably 2-3 years old now that I absolutely love, but I've been considering the wireless A50s.

I can't speak on the XP400s but I have a pair of the XP500s and I had an issue with interference on the 2.4ghz wireless band. A quick search, however, shows the XP400s have dual band 2.4/5ghz wireless so I would think they should work well. The interference was my only complaint.

No, I have the ones that came before the exclusive ones came out for Xbox One and PS4. Mine work for 360, PS3, PS4, and One. You just have to have the adapter for the One, and I have to adjust the knobs and everything to get the sound how I like it. They're quality sound and comfort. But I do miss the ease of my last gen Turtle Beaches. I also wish they took batteries.

Why do you wish the headset took batteries?

Because it never fails that they start dying and beeping in my ears when I'm gaming. With the old ones, I could just grab my rechargeable AA batteries and keep going. Same with my PS4 controller - I wish it took batteries like my Xbox One's.

I have the red and white audio cables plugged into the back of the tv, and the headset plugged into the controller, and the HDMI plug from the headsets plugged into the Xbox 360

HDMI from the headset? I'm not sure I've seen that before.

As for the sound from the TV - is it the game or voice chat coming through? When I use my headset I always just turn the TV volume down/mute it.

it's game noise coming from the TV, when I turn the volume down, he tells me he can't hear

Weird. It has to have wires crossed somewhere maybe? Did the X12s come with a tower that needs powered with USB? Is the tower on? Is the volume turned up on the headset? Gah I can't think what would cause that without seeing it... It is usually something ridiculously obvious when it happens to me.
