I know some people have a hard time with counting winning streaks when you include the prior season, but the Tennessee Volunteers are on a 10 game winning streak. This is the longest winning streak since 1998 into the 1999 season when we lost to Florida in game 2. Let that soak in a bit.

I am so proud of where this team has come, and especially the fight they have shown in the second half of games after first half adversity.

If there is one thing this team is showing they know how to do, it's that they know how to fight and scrap.

From here on out let's pledge to fight with them, not get down during the middle of the game if it's not going our way, and put the negative thoughts behind us. Go Vols!

This was a good post until I realized it is just a cover for you to sneak in the over opinionated last sentence.

I really believe this team is determined to win..you can see it in the players and how they play all game..last year we could have lost some of these games...there is just a different feel about this team..which is great...Seems they have found a will to win...GBO

And for God's sake no more booing. You can disagree with coaching, but booing at games certainly doesn't make it look good for recruits or their parents. Recruiting is the life blood of a program like this, let's don't screw it up.

Don't even bother posting some BS response trying to justify booing at games, I don't want to hear it. Boo at your damned TV.

as to the topic of the 10 game win streak. it is a good thing, especially now that you have a signature win in there, and it looks like this team has in fact learned how to win. that's a good thing, and all i can say is i hope they keep it going for as long as possible.

My dad just called and, as usual, the conversation turned to football. He told me that Tennessee is on a 15 game winning streak.

I said what? I believe it is 10.

He said no, it's 15 cause that's how many times I've rewatched that game. Haha

Two take aways from Saturday

I wasn't in attendance at the game due to prior commitments but did get to see it on TV and was struck by how little confidence coach McElwain seemed to have in his half time interview as he left the field for the locker room. Old Jim even seemed a bit nervous. I had seen what many have since commented on that Florida was benefiting more from the Vols total lack of ability to execute in the red zone than outstanding Gator play. And that the Gator offense essentially consisted of their ability to throw it over Martin’s head. But I thought I was just seeing the world through the orange tinted glasses I wear continually from late August until after bowl season. But alas here was the Florida HBC nervous with an 18 point half time lead! Then my inner Ben Crenshaw said “I'm going to leave y'all with one thought. I'm a big believer in fate. I have a good feeling about this.” Of course I dismissed the voice right away as not knowing the Vols and this series… but it was weird how little confidence McElwain seemed to have given the circumstances.

The second was how much cramping the Gator players were having late in the game. I was screaming at the TV that they were faking it to slow the Tennessee onslaught but when they took Tabor to the locker room I changed my mind. I really think the Vols were a much better conditioned team than the Gators which is bazaar given its hotter and more humid in August in Gainesville than Knoxville.

I'm not ashamed to admit I've watched the 2nd half every night since last Saturday's game. And I plan on watching it every night until the UGA game gives me something new and enjoyable to watch. And yes, I am predicting we beat UGA and look good doing so.

well...it's all about perspective. I believe there has been at least one signature win every year he's been here.

I really don't think a lot of folks appreciate how low this program had fallen. Since year 1 CBJ has had our VOLS playing competitive football for the most part. Almost all the losses in the last 2 years were to ranked teams - previous 2 losses to UF were unsettling to me as well, but it aint like they were less talented...especially on D.

Beating a ranked SC, basically knocking them out of contention to win the East in year 1....was exceptional.

Maybe not a "signature" win, but taking a very young team to a good bowl and curb stomping Iowa in year 2...was above average (context). I will also go the mat saying our VOLS beat Mizzou if the AJ situation hadn't happened.

Beating a ranked UGA in year 3 was outstanding as well.
I agree - close loses hurt, but this was still a somewhat young team, with a majority of the stars and playmakers in their 1st or 2nd year. Another good bowl and another beat down on NW, another ranked team...not too shabby.

While I've been quite perplexed with the team thus far...they are 4-0 and finally have the UF monkey off our collective backs! I agree with many that there aren't any logical excuses for this team not to excel and be very special this year. Given the key injuries thus far, it's good to see other players step up and contribute. I'm looking forward to a couple more signature wins this year!!

GO VOLS!!!!

I agree with this however Dufus Dooley deserved every boo he got from the crowds at Neyland and from the couches. Sorry to bring that sorry sucker's name up again, my apologies.
