To be fair for Coach Pruitt, (who's a brand new HEAD COACH), I wasn't expecting a great class.

Whoever would? Recruits want to be part of a program that's winning. Tennessee went 0-8 in the SEC last year.

Young kids are more ADD then ever. they don't want to be told "in a few years will win a Championship"...they want to hear "next year, we will be in the Top 4"...

Yeah, they understand that it's gonna be a new staff, but not every kid wants to take a RISK. And yes, I said RISK. Even as a fan base, we have NO IDEA what our offense/defense will look like. How can you pitch that to a recruit?

There are four teams with recruiting classes ranked ahead of us that are on our schedule every single year. Not to mention that the school we compete with for recruits more than any other just finished with the number one ranked class in the nation. It’s going to be a very long road back.

I guess he did better that B*tch did after Dooley. Not so disappointed with the class, more so that we failed to get so many of the targets we had, almost like he was out of touch with the players. Where is the disconnect? On the other hand, maybe some of these guys were actually close to 50:50 or 33:33:33 and it was appropriate to go after them. Maybe with just a little difference in some aspect of the program, we would be looking at a top 10 class. Still, doesnt look great when most of your targets go elsewhere

Didn't Pruitt go from 64 to what, 20? Is it 20 now?..

Cannot expect all kinds of top flight recruits to flood your program when you go 0-8 in your conference. This year is going to be rough, 6-6, MAYBE 7-5. But I do think we will see some improvement in player development and coaching.

Yeah but why target them then? I mean, if we had realistic chances to get them then fine. But if thats the case, then when you dont land them your excuse cannot be we didnt have a realistic chance of landing them. Its waaay to early to make any real judgements on CJP, but its the offseason and NSD so Im just over-analyzing the only thing we got a UT HC so far

Just curious, but where do you any of you see 6 wins on this schedule? I would say 5 wins is a good year for this team.

So Pruitt shouldn’t offer any high caliber player because they’re not realistic?

If that’s the case, then he shouldn’t be a HC in the SEC.

4-8 is going to have a much bigger impact than dropping 5 spots in the recruiting rankings.

How many teams in the top 20 had losing records?

Its an interesting question but a bit unfair. I think if u wanted to compare you'd have to go back and look at prestigious programs that sucked, fired their coach, and how they did those years following. For example, CBJ landed a 24th ranked team after DD. Anyway, I wasnt saying he should have done better than 20th, I am just pointing out that we missed so many high profile targets.

Well, thats a bit extreme, but if you are going to argue that way then I'd respond if he only offers unrealistic players we would not land a single recruit and therefore he shouldnt be a HC either

I get that. I just don't see how you can sway those kids from winning programs to one in the deepest of gutters. Its a hard sell.

By his logic since we are historically a 70% win team we should only count on 8.4 wins per season.
