Windy's football discussion thread.

Why would it be good for IU to win it all?
For one, they’re a team seemingly absent of the superstar mindset. Apparently, Cignetti’s culture is team oriented - you thrive when we all thrive. Players appear to have each other’s backs (number of upperclassmen helps). Next man up strives to be as good as the starter and answers when called to play.

I credit Heupel for creating a positive culture at UT. Hopefully, new coaching additions will not only improve readiness, but make players think twice about chasing higher NIL$ and game time elsewhere. If development better prepares players for the next level, then staying at UT provides intangible benefits that outweigh speculative portal lures.

Any candidates for strength and conditioning?

This is not sustainable

  • 2707: Total Number of Players in the Portal in 2024
  • 25 Percent of D1 Football players enter the portal within their first year of college
  • 30 Percent of those players never left the portal or got signed by another team
  • 72 FBS teams lost 20 players or more to the portal last year, nearly triple the number from two years ago (25)
  • More than 60 FBS teams had a transfer quarterback in 2024
  • 883 FBS Players transferred to a Power Four school last year nearly double the year before (454)

Rice QB is starting for the very first time. He just threw a pass directly to the TxSt safety while his open receiver watched, bewildered. I think I’ll find a movie…

Tuned in to Navy vs Cinci. Midshipmen score!

One thing about the military academies, there’s no worry about NIL or portal. The teams that played the season are the teams playing in the postseason.
